Anonymous, 31 May 2024Omnivision is californian. Created by chinese does not mean company is chinese. In 2016, OmniVision was acquired by a consortium of Chinese investors consisting of Hua Capital Management Co., Ltd., CITIC Capital and Goldstone Investment Co., Ltd.

Isocell is made in Seoul and Exmor in Tokyo.
Both pay taxes to enter China.
This is why only Vivo X100U has samsung oled, all other chinese phones above $500 use domestic.

Maximum parts from China! And that's a good thing how? Supply chains need to be diversified, because if one supplier ends up with problems, your overall access to a particular set of parts won't be very low. Xiaomi should use whatever works best here, rather than trying to slowly put all their eggs in one basket with OmniVision. Hell, OmniVision still hasn't released a 1"-type sensor, and now that Sony has stacked CMOS sensor tech, they're even further behind, even if they may have some minor advantages to do with exposure time, HDR and autofocus, which ultimately still don't translate to beating Sony's LYT-900 when these advantages are on a smaller sensor. OmniVision is great with certain sensor requirements, but you cannot rely on them for everything. Also, Samsung currently has its own niche in that the Samsung ISOCELL JN1 (and JNS) sensor is the absolute best sensor you can use for selfies. If Xiaomi were to diversify, they'd have even better cameras (granted, they need to improve their processing).

Xiaomi is the best dealer of camera phones , all the MI series phones have great image quality..... Excited to see what this phone can accomplish.
namzap, 31 May 2024same sensor as honor magic 6 pro. come on honor use the 1 inch sensor alreadyAnd if they absolutely cannot (they can, but they're really price gouging), why not at least use a 1/1.12"-type sensor? This sensor downgrading business is absolutely disgusting.
Lol at assuming sony always >>> others.
Xiaomi went from very good image quality/price ratio in the 13'th series (where it feature big Sony sensors for the main cam), to worst in the 14'th series (featuring smaller 1/1,3"ones), to even worst in the 15'th series (featuring smaller 1/1,3" Omnivison ones).
That's life, there are very good alternatives to look at!
Omnivision means they save money and don't care about quality

Exmor T of 1/1.28" can match type 1.0 Exmor RS.
Xiaomi just needs to pay huge price it costs. Then charge clients.
Even lame iphone 15 has it.
The pro still being stuck on the same 1/1.3" main sensor is a bit disappointing since even the Xiaomi 13 pro had the imx989. Apparently at least the pro will get a periscope this time. The 14 and 14pro had the weakest telephoto hardware and performance amongst all the Chinese flagship series this year. Even the base non pro/ultra models from OPPO, Vivo and Iqoo were better than the Xiaomi 14pro and Xiaomi 14 for telephoto performance so I think that's where the biggest room for improvement is. Wonder if it's the same OV50H or the lofic OV50k one used in the Honor magic 6 RSR
man they always use flagship sensor in camera but post processing sucks @$$, HDR capability in xiaomi device is so much average
