Hello, wanted to point out, that the Xperia 1 V weighs 198 grams weighted it myself. The scale I used is calibrated, as.it correctly showed 187 grams for the Xperia 1 III.

Both devices are maybe good, but that price tag on them is a joke. With all R&D and marketing it should not be more than 750-800 not fricking 1400.
As far as I loved old Sony phones with all their flaws and features, looking at what they make for past few years I hope Sony will flop hard as all they not only messed their phones, their recent ideas and products in media/games/sound departments are nightmare.

Accounting for the price difference, 1 V is definitely better, higher res screen and the unique aspect ratio, plus 8 Gen 2 still holds up well.

I don't think that it was to be mainstream.
I dread what AI will do with spell checkers and how it will influence the way people write. Writing can be enjoyable, not a chore.

Great for pockets, it's nice when talking on the phone but just about everything else would be better with a wider screen. As for watching films, I like older films, most of which aren't widescreen.

If it were available in the U.S., I'd wait until the vi goes on sale or maybe I'll have to flee in November if the unthinkable happens here and I'm not young. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has read something or heard for themselves the improved audio circuitry Sony mentioned. People who appreciate audio quality will listen through headphones or external speakers. You can't expect much from a phone speaker.

Ironically the article makes much of the huge price difference, while the Amazon prices advertised on the page for the 2 models are almost the same 😐

You've seen something different on other sites that I don't go, and the intention of my original post wasn't to compare Find X7 Ultra and X100 Ultra's macro capability anyway. I still think Vivo has an edge here, though.

Yeah, it sucks and is very disingenuous given that Xperia 5 V which shares the same camera app, main camera and SoC as Xperia 1 V somehow has this 2x crop zoom from 48MP full resolution output.
Sony is notorious for being extremely lazy when it comes to giving older devices new features via software updates (Not just phones but for cameras too, a1 still doesn't have a video animal eye AF that is present on a7IV even after the V2.0 update, despite the fact that the hardware fully supports the feature) so this is nothing surprising, but it does make you question if they really care about their audience who have paid 1.4K for this.
