Back in 2010 I started my smart phone journey with HTC and have been on to several models ever since.
Have been using u11 6gb ram for the last 7 years... still a dream machine... working like day one...smooth and very fast... very well designed phone both in terms of its screen size and weight.... camera is off the charts... friends owning brand new models from other brands can't believe that a 7 yo could match theirs in several aspects.
Anonymous, 01 May 20247g3 is capable of 4K@60 HDR Qualcomm's official page says otherwise. For 7 Gen 3 it says under video capture "Up to 4K" (24/30 fps), whereas on the 7+ Gen 2 it says "Up to 4K @ 60 fps".
It is weird that the newer chip would omit that, also that none of the 7+ Gen 2 phones offered the 4K60fps shooting option despite clearly supporting it.
Well done HTC keep the new phones coming... Ignore negative people u have a loyal fan base all around the world.
High end mid range. Good to see.i loved my old HTC, the A9 had a nice metal back. Hope this one is not huge.

Can HTC die already? Why are they still in business? Just give up on the smartphone market, it is not for you anymore.

HMD already has 3 phones under own name. More on the way.
Google had 5 devices in 2023 (4 phones + 1 tablet).
Apple had 4, since no ipad was made last year.
If we get stereo speakers, better thermals, minimum 2 OS updates and at least 12MP on the ultrawide I think they could be on to something. The U23 Pro was good but certainly not the best in its class.
I started my android journey with a day one htc Droid Incredible. Hard to believe this is the same ground breaking company.
Lamith, 01 May 2024Why would they go with this chip though? Why not a 8 Gen 3, to justify the "Pro" naming? It is midrange. Htc has no conditions to make phone with 8g3, IP67/68, gorilla victus and other stuff but pricing it below €1000.
Motorola is backed up by Lenovo, they purchase much higher amount of components and still 50 Pro is €700. Imagine Htc.

Article about U24 series on phone arena, comment box, someone claims U23 is by Lenovo.
I doubt. It is nothing like any motorola or levono and would be far easier to copy an already done phone than coming up with new project .
I think u23 is indeed by htc
Minu, 01 May 2024Unpopular opinion, but I think the U11 was the best design ever outsourced by HTCThat silver was so stunning
Well dont want to be rude but even Apple or Google releases more devices a year than HTC, Same goes for newly created sole brand HMD or Nothing with just 2 phones per this year :-)

Also how do you know it's Longcheer who makes the HTC phones?

It also manufactures Nokia's XR series of devices and the C32 (judging by their build properties files). Also the HTC U series appears to be a property of Longcheer, supposedly the manufacturer responsible for the Moto X4, ZTE Axon series phones and several other devices.

Minu, 01 May 2024Funny how HMD isn't this awful with the same supply chain (and lower end chipsets, of course)Do we even know what ODMs HTC uses for the U series. HMD uses Fushan (Microsoft Mobile Viet Nam) for feature phones and whoever is willing to produce phones for them (Huaqin, Wingtech, Enok, etc.)
And HTC? They outsource the Wildfires to WaterWorld or FortuneShip who outsource them to ODMs - the Wildfire E plus was a rebadged Umidigi C1, and the E star was also sold by Logic) but the U series? That's unknown
Make this phone interesting pls. I used to choose HTC over Samsung always in the past
