any excuse to jack the price up really.
I mean at this point they are aiming for what $150£150

Haptics is not needed since when does a pencil have haptics?
Why not just release a $10 screen protector with a non smooth finish if you want to feel the movement of the pen LOL

No thanks, S Pen is just better. I don't want my pen/cil to give me haptics while I'm writing/drawing as it would rather disturb me than help me

IMHO, the ergonomy of the pen is much more important than gimmicks.

Fearghast, 30 Apr 2024They have real friction with paper, something you do not get on slippery glass. So an artificial "noise" and a constantly shaking and vibrating unit in your hand will make it feel "natural" while working on your projects??

"The upcoming stylus will feature haptic feedback built-in, making the writing experience feel more natural."

Have these people at fruit HQ even used a real pen or pencil?? What active "feedback" are they even talking about? Do they want the stylus to keep cooing "we appreciate you, you're so innovative!!, we know you love it!" every time we dot the " i "??

"Haptic feedback" to make smart sounding word salads instead of just creating a good stylus tip that acts passively is such a typical Apple big(little)brain move if I ever saw one.

"This will hopefully be at least somewhat customizable, so it will act differently depending on what you're doing with the pen"
GSMA seems to know what people will do with a vibrating pen lol.
Anyway, Apple seems to forget that _real_ pen does not have a haptic feedback. Unless they refer to an old pen which the ball point is stuck and dragging across the paper instead of rolling. Surely they wouldn't want to recreate that annoying feeling on their styluses. When you write, it's the surface (paper, board, etc) that triggers the feedback, and cheap $5 matte screenguard on a tab/iPad can already emulate this.

"This could make the experience of using it feel more like handling a real pen"

Real pens don't shake especially when precision drawing is required. Imagine drawing a straight line and the pen starts to shake. This seems like a counter intuitive feature that Apple thinks real artists want but will just annoy them.

If you're serious about "making the writing experience feel more natural" get a REAL pencil and a sheet of paper for much less money. And that's before buying a phone. I don't know about you but squiggling around on a $1,000.00+ phone with a pricy, fancy electronic "pencil" just don't seem "natural" to me.

I hate haptic feedback, it's distracting and I don't understand its usefulness... It's one of the first annoying things I turn off every time I buy a new unit.
