The chip that is mentioned here is not the SD 8 Gen 4, but the SD 8 Elite. Currently the Xiaomi Redmi Turbo 4 Pro has the supposed Gen 4 processor. But not the 8 Gen 4, it is the 8s Gen 4. We don't know anything about the mainline processor, but we have a phone with the 8s.

The correct answer is these leakster do NOT, NOT! have inside information or specific information that they are passing on.
This is a article with two main issues: the manufacturers which have consistently launched their latest flagship with Qualcomm latest SoC; and Qualcomm.
It is fairly easy to predict that if you are ALREADY using Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, your next flagship a year later won't.
And finally Qualcomm have always, ALWAYS adopted a new naming standard when the process (nm) changes
Qualcomm will in October 2024 announce a 3nm SoC (upgraded from the 4nm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3). With that comes a new name, Snapdragon 9? Oryon 3? (3nm) Gen 1.
The 8S Gen 3 is 4nm, if Qualcomm do the same 'tweak down' the flagship SoC it will be named Snapdragon ?S Gen 1 IF IT ALSO HAS THE SAME ARCHITECTURE AS THE FLAGSHIP.
Process (nm) and architecture BOTH go into the naming***
Put another shorter way Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is ONLY correct if Qualcomm October 2024 release is a 4nm SoC!
***If you look back at both the process and the architecture together it's quite an easy naming convention to follow. Calling it 8G4 is just an easy way to call the "gen" after 3.

Putting out 20 varieties of phones when 8 or 9 may offer a meaningful change looks to me like the washing detergent isle at the store....flooding the market to take up shelf space from a competitor. Totally useless in my book. Not only that, it is doing a great disservice to the consumer who gets little value for their hard-earned money but only find that out after they buy the product which has been WAY overhyped.

we use SD870 and Kirin 980. the only reason to update (buy new) devices is battery degradation and camera upgrades. CPUs are capable of handling all tasks without a problem. and they are 4y old chipsets.

As long as u have a cooler and ur phone is charged to 100%. U can get solid 4 to 6 hours of nonstop genshin impacting... Though the game is better on PC anyway. Infact it's better to play breath of the wild anyway...
