We owned the Galaxy A51, The A52, A52s and A53. Trust me,The Galaxy S23fe is leaps and bounds better in almost every way. The A55 was designed to a particular audience and it fulfills it's role well. However if you care about photography, performance, water resistance(IP68), wireless charging, premium build, A.I. Years of updates, Actual Optical zoom lens, Go for the S23fe, You can get your hands on one now for cheap. I picked up mine in April for about $400- and it has the Qualcomm CPU. and I don't think I would go back to an A series Galaxy at this point.. / Peace
From a person who had an A52 and then decided to rather get a secondhand s20fe...I can tell you having the "premium" S series features with much better and more reliable performance...the Fe line up is way better than A and is worth it even if secondhand.
The thing is I use Dex and reverse wireless charging for my earbuds and love it. The only problem is if the battery is your main priority and you don't care about wireless charging or having the odd stutter or app closing down get an A series. But in my opinion, getting an older Fe phone is far better experience if you use your phone less than 3 hours on screen a day. But having basically the same experience as flagship phones can't be downplayed. I will probably look to get the s23 Fe next year second. Such a pity there wasn't a S22 fe or else i would have got that
For a casual gamer that doesnt play games that requires high res on everything a55 fits me right.
The 128/8GB FE is cheaper today, Aug14,2024.
How is this a comparison even? The only areas I see the A55 performing better than the S23 FE is the battery life and the durability (glass especially).
S23 FE has better display (Dynamic Amoled is better than Super Amoled)
S23 FE has IP68 while the A55 has IP67.
S23 FE has Samsung Dex mostly ( a feature mostly on flagship phones) and the A55 does not have it.
S23 FE has the wireless charging while the A55 again doesn't have.
S23 FE has the Galaxy AI support on the go A55 might get it later.
So here's my take on this:
I dont understand people who bash these 2 good midrange smartphones, these phones are for people who cant afford the top flagship phones or people who simply want to save money while having good features.
Yes, some of the tech is found on the old Samsung FEs, and the bezels suck for some but they had to cut costs, to make them affordable and these are not a deal breaker for most people. Quite frankly those are nice problems for people who can afford flagship phones and hardcore gamers but for average users these are great phones.
Lets not try to put pressure on the average user who can only afford these phones to buy even more expensive phones theres a reason why they looking at these 2 options otherwise they would buy those top phones or 2nd hand phones.
As for you avarage user who wants to buy between these 2 phones: if your prioritiy is the battery and durability above all else,go for the A55. If you into more features and can't afford the flagships then 23 FE is the closest you can get and a better option as the performance is even better over all. As for me I would go with the 23 FE if had to choose.
DON'T LISTEN TO ADVISES SUCH AS "GO FOR 23 AND UP" IF YOU CAN BARELY AFFORD THEM OR NOT THAT MUCH INTO THOSE HARDCORE FEATURES ,IT ITS NOT WORTH IT (for the most part you'll love those features at first but then forget abuot them as time goes.
ConfusedUser, 17 Apr 2024I've been using the A50s since 2019, lookin for an upgrade, can't decide if I should... moreThen You should go for S23FE
So no one's gonna talk about why s23fe only has 10MP front cam compared to a55's 32MP front cam?
Spot, 04 Jun 2024I want something with good display, better performance, and a better long lasting build ( I m ... moreA55 is balanced on the chipset side and still cheaper with an equally good and comparable Super AMOLED display.
I want something with good display, better performance, and a better long lasting build ( I m not a camera person so whichever is fine) and also for the battery, if it lasts a full day of everyday use that's good.... I do play games though but not in the competitive level . So which one should I get..
Bo, 24 May 2024Maybe FE means top inside but cheaper outside? S-series is top inside and outside. While A-ser... moreActually, FE monikor was first used with Note 7 when it had to be fitted with smaller battery, after the fire problem. It was a temporary name then. Then on, it kinda lost the main point it stood for.
S10FE was a heavier, bigger, cheaper version of S10.
S20FE was cheaper, but on the other hand, a better, faster Snapdragon version than S20.
Sometimes FE's have Snapdragon, sometimes Exynos. The combination is simply too random to identify any pattern.
Cheaper, yes, but why would you call it Fan Edition then? In fact, if anything, a fan should be ready to pay a premium!
Most A series phones are around 200gm+ of weight, while S series hovers around late 160's. Even otherwise, S is the premium experience, but yes, you're right, A series has come a long way.

S-series is top inside and outside. While A-series is OK inside and OK outside? Or even A-series is today so good enough that it is the best choice for most people. Given the price difference.

Anonymous, 18 Apr 2024Just got A55 hopefully better than A52 with such a bad battery life How is the battery life?
This is a very weak comparison and reeks of protecting A55 and high prices that Samsung is making at present. GSMarena credibility is not reinforced by reviews like this.
S23FE have DeX, better video and many other conveniences.
ConfusedUser, 17 Apr 2024I've been using the A50s since 2019, lookin for an upgrade, can't decide if I should... moreWould be great to know which region you are from (since prices vary greatly) and whether you must stick to Samsung or other Chinese brands would be acceptable for you? If you plan to get the best hardware for the lowest price possible, Samsung usually ranks last as good value is never its expertise. And its lower end device like A25 still comes with super dated thick bezels while the entry models of other Chinese brands even look and feel better. If you are planning to save yet not wanting to sacrifice a whole lot on hardware, I would recommend Poco X6 Pro, it packs so much new technology and strong processing power although the cameras of the A55 should be better.
Why such a curtailed & incomplete comparison?
What about the Wireless Charging + Reverse Wireless Charging on the S23FE?
IP67 (A55) v/s IP68 (S23 FE)
DeX support on the S23 FE
1450 nits peak brightness on the S23 FE.
All of that is surely worth a few bucks more. The A55 is just not VFM!
Just got A55 hopefully better than A52 with such a bad battery life
I've been using the A50s since 2019, lookin for an upgrade, can't decide if I should go for higher range like S series (years later since need to save money) or the A55. I value gaming and camera a lot. Any tips please?
S23 FE (Snapdragon) > A55 > S23 FE (Exynos)
Mollo, 15 Apr 2024The S23 FE also has a good battery life I changed my opinion :) A55 is much better than S23FE.
