It also has to do with the crapload of Android phones (mostly crappy) out there.

                        Same photo quality as before. Just updated and tried to send a photo. Exactly the same quality of the photo as before.

Social media apps are biased to... moreI think that was because iPhone users are more likely to upload their photos to apps and clouds without reading the fine print, unlike the android users who are relatively more tech oriented and look into such matters.
                          Just look at the number of celebrities that use iphones and have their cloud uploaded photos leaked.... They're usually clueless about the dangers of the cloud.
