I work at manual labor and do cardio daily (running and etc) with wired headphones. I only broke them once because I'm sitting my phone by headphone jack with headphones plugged in. Changed the cable and off it goes, it serves for another few years. No batteries needed.
That said tws are pretty neat looking thing, I guess its fairly nice to be able to repair them unlike with some certain brands (apple and likely many more, don't know much about tws) we all heard about.

Everyone is surely bashing on the lack of a headphone jack on the Fairphone. This is fine and dandy, as this is a legitimate drawback with the phone.

But stop trying to bash these TWS, as the Fairbuds do something that every other product doesn't do in this crowded market.

I am not condoning their practices, just saying that most if not all people have a pair of wired/wireless earbuds, making these fairbuds useless.

Also people go to work everyday and you can't blame someone for a company making cheap ear buds that break easily

They might be Galaxy A0x level at best) or A25 at best. Display, speakers, camera, battery; not a single thing is great. Camera is bearable, but the rest is just abysmal.

I still remember the removal of the headphone jack on the FP4 for no good reason. Shortly after they released their own wireless headphones. I did not forget, nor did others. Fairphone isn't fair, they just want profits, or they would have kept the tiny jack atleast as an optional module.

The TWS costs about 150 Euro.

Thats the exact amount of money i would spend for cheap TWS for the next 20 years.

So, what is the positive direct impact of this product for costumer anyway?

What can you expect from a brand that overcharges for their phones? I bet their 'premium sound quality' only matches up to a Nord Buds 2, which in that case you should just get the Redmi Buds 5 instead.
                          Not worth the repairability.

Still e-waste, not to mention a huge hassle (It's not like you go to a shop and buy a standard 18650 battery, for example). It's not much different than just throwing away the headphones and buying new ones since battery is the main source of pollution.
Not eco-friendly, not convenient and not cheap.
And all this for what? There's no problem with wired technology, so they are offering a bad "solution" to a problem that doesn't exist. Why use a battery in a device that doesn't really need a battery?

They have outlasted by a large margin any bluetooth e-waste crap because no battery can possibly last that long (And they only cost 15EUR or so, with great, balanced sound). And if i use a USB dongle, then i'll have to throw away phone's battery soon as usb audio is a huge power hog (And not to mention a usb dongle will surely last a lot less than wired headphones. Oh, and usb port itself will probably get damaget at some point).

That's why the UNfairphone is such a scam making complete mockery of their clients. Their "sustainability" is just a blatant lie.

Niobium62, 09 Apr 2024i have gotten used to the likes of samsung, google, huawei, apple and xiaomi being greedy for ... moreIndeed, there is no way i'm buying this POS. There are still decent phones with the jack, better SoC, much better screen, much better battery, much better speakers and much better cameras for much less money. And when there aren't anymore, I can buy a Samsung and i can at least still get all that minus the jack (But removing the jack is generally unforgivable so I won't be buying a Samsung either, unless there are no decent alternatives with the jack left).
If it was a true enthusiast phone with a few shortcomings, i would buy it; but it's simply a scam and they are relying on creating cult mentality just like Apple.
Sustainability? Well, with such a crappy phone without any single strong suit, i will want to throw it away in the first year.

Wont buy their phone until they add 3.5mm modular part since they already sell their devices at premium even with mediocre specs.
