Minu, 25 Mar 2024Acer phones looked much better than these giraffes, lolAcer might have looked ok, but they have never been quality. Not even the predator systems. High price for discount 3rd party hardware.
For oversized slabs, there are much better options.
I just hope that they actually make a potential Zenfone 11 SMALL. Because their previous attempts weren't it. The Zenfone 10,for example, despite the smaller screen on paper, had a bigger footprint than the S23 due to the huge bezels. If Asus can't trim bezels, I'd prefer the Zenfone 11 to go down to 5.5". That's the only way I'd buy it when it misses something as basic as microSD support.
The problem when you reach this price segment is that software features and support becomes very important. You cannot just have a bare bone software with lackluster support. And the current kings at this price range is Samsung and Pixel.
Before, Asus has a unique selling proposition, size. Now they have none. Someone who can spend $1000 for a phone would either just buy an iPhone. If Asus thinks their small Zenfone sales is lackluster, they will find things to be worse now in this price segment.
Zendroid, 24 Mar 2024Nope. Nobody with common sense will buy any of their high ping spike phones.! Hard to believe ... moreAcer phones looked much better than these giraffes, lol
As always, Asus drops the ball hard.
Their Zenfone lineup is full of experiments and they seem to not decide onto an identity. Every 2 gens, they are changing the formula really hard.
loligami requiem, 25 Mar 2024They are the same essentially. I dont care if it traditional notch, double notch, punch hole, ... moreSony might be the option
Nein, 24 Mar 2024There is a difference between an notch and a punch hole, Samsung is a great alternative or XiaomiThey are the same essentially. I dont care if it traditional notch, double notch, punch hole, pill shape if it is covering a certain area off the screen i dont want it. If samsung fold front display was not notched, im surely take a consideration on buying one.
And my second complaint about notch or whatever they called it is, is because my ocd, my ocd will kick in if i see the screen is not symmetrical. Yeah, i know there is virtual notch blocker in some phone, but it is not the same. Apparently not all app supported, even if you forced that app, it will never be consistance. (why i know this? Because i tried using a notched phone once, because they said it has that feature. But, i sold it soon after and bought a redmagic )
No. Putting aside other brands with no jack, the ROG 8 (16/256 GB) is currently $1000 on their own site, and I actually care about wired video out, among other perks.
404, 24 Mar 2024Agree, their Max Pro series was a massive success, at least in my country. Dunno why they don&... moreAnd yes the camera island looks really bad on this, it's just horrible. It's too high and too up close to top frame of the device
404, 24 Mar 2024Agree, their Max Pro series was a massive success, at least in my country. Dunno why they don&... moreYes, their earlier phones were quite popular. Because they started with budget segment, Zenfones had a lot of buyers and I also bought few of them, untill they were below $300 price point. Then they went for all flagship route, and sales started dropping. They just went on increasing prices with every generation and this 11 is now an Ultra flagship, ultra only in price

At least zenfone u... moreBut Asus phone smells like a phone from 2013. It smells like a phone with only 2 years software support.
The smell of failed phone that only bought by small number of people.
This camera island looks horrendous. How can somebody sign this off
I won't.
But if they can release this phone under 3500RMB(about 500 USD), I could consider.
Same year release compact size smartphones such as S22, Xiaomi 13, they both get or will get the latest software support.
As Samsung may feature drop circle to search to S22 in the future, and Xiaomi 13 get Hyper OS.
What did Zenfone 9 get?
NOTHING. No feature drop, no security update every 2 months, no bug fixing. It is very hard to mess up this good hardware. But ASUS did.
This exactly why I brought Nothing Phone 1.

Asus should officially announce is the small Zenfone is dead or not! Really wish they'd make the smaller one too!
One thing is for sure: If they plan to release a smaller-sized Zenfone 11 (not Ultra), then not releasing them at the same time to show they still have a smaller option was an extremely bad move publicity-wise
