They do not exist as they used to? Yes they do not, because they are fully b2b company now, and probably will stay there. They for sure do not live out of patents as you think, or well, seem to think.

potato4k, 05 Feb 2024For Asia, yes. EU market is not a growth market. And the fact is Oppo et al did leave the EU, ... moreActually Europe is a huge market, oppo leaving was because nobody buys their phones in europe, and well they also wanted to keep using nokia technologies and innovations for free, that did not work to well for them in europe

India and most of Asia are growth market with plenty of young population buying their first smartphones. Oppo’s strength is working with resellers in 2nd and 3rd tier cities.

Oppo payed after sued Nokia recently in China to settle this patent issue, and we know what happened recently.

Also India Market isn't More profitable than Whole EU, especially to Oppo who has like 11% marketshare.

If they did, they would've striked a deal with Nokia many moons ago. They just did it now because Nokia was taking the lawsuits to Asia where Oppo is making a lot of money. If Nokia didn't do that, Oppo wouldn't care and the EU market is not really attractive.

Oppo had 6% of that market, that's around 10M device per year, not Small amount to lose, also it's profitable, probably 10M unit sold in Europe is more profitable than 30M sold in Africa or some parts of Asia.
