1/2.5" behind 69mm lens is gonna have thicker bump than 1/3.2" behind 69mm lens. Only way to prevent is by using curved sensor.
Even OIS already makes module thicker.
This is why you see so many phones with much smaller cameras for super wide(12-19mm) and standard (50-79mm), to in the end have all three modules same thickness.
This is why Zte does not use imx989, since nubia devices use 35mm.
Bump would be easily 3-4mm thicker compared to what Oppo and Xiaomi have.
Dont you find weird that phones used to have 25, 26, 27mm and now 23-24mm main camera?

It could increase its size or opening without needing it to protrude further from the body externally. Exactly the same thing happens with the ultra wide angle.
Anonymous , 04 Jan 2024Bruh sensor size and resolution has been increased and with better software algorithms doesn't matter, you'll see that the photos will be worse at 30x+ zoom :)
This is the same guy on 31/12/23 said the S24 would come loaded with 4K @ 120FPS video capability or not however Samsung were testing?
https://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s24_ultra_4k_120fps_video_recording-news-61074.php
"Many people are pessimistic about the quality of 10x photos taken by S24 Ultra, and I was pessimistic before, until I saw the comparison of samples a few days ago.
I can definitely say that taking pictures at 10x zoom,S24U is better than S23U."
This WASN'T a 'story' until his fabricated tweet. Samsung have only today 04/01/24 released a teaser video*** however he claims he and other have seen comparison photo prior to that
Now this tweet has become the story and the source ICE UNIVERSE this December 12 article has now added the uncorroborated claim as a related story https://www.androidheadlines.com/2023/12/samsung-galaxy-s24-ultra-10x-zoom-report-may-be-wrong.html
As you can see Samsung already have advertising and PR department, why with the unpacked event happening in 13 days would they go to this guy whose embedded video is Samsung teaser video
Many people, no ALL PEOPLE who get exclusive viewings will have been BOUND by confidentiality. NO way on earth would he have been allowed to comment / hint/ or acknowledge anything.
MADE UP STORY as will be whatever follows
I can't see how 5 times cropped 5× zoom lens image can be better than native 9.6× zoom lens.
It's another hype try.
DaniPT, 04 Jan 2024That 3x camera does not have better hardware simply because Samsung does not want it, Samsung ... moreIt requires to have larger sensor. At this FL, bump would be thicker.
Samsung is not willing to do it.
Optical zoom is optical zoom !

But it's not because it's too big to improve. Its specifications are modest and the size of the 3x interior module is small compared to others. There is no physical limitation.
robi10101298, 04 Jan 2024with 5x tele instead of 10x, I don't think we'll see improved pictures :) Bruh sensor size and resolution has been increased and with better software algorithms
Why couldn't they keep the 10x telephoto lense but upgrade the sensor to the 50MP?
Probably going to stick with the S23U
S25 ultra to feature.... 15x zoom.
notafanboy, 04 Jan 2024Are you angry because I'm not rushing to the nearest Samsung store to "upgrade"... moreOK redmi bro
With downgraded lens? Probably some AI sharpening at work but it usually mean like the super fake "Moon Photo" from the galaxy series. Also I hope samsung fix their green line issue as they usually introduce this kind of screen defect to their older flagship with software update.
notafanboy, 04 Jan 2024Are you angry because I'm not rushing to the nearest Samsung store to "upgrade"... moreI hope you are flippin' joking here. Rule of thumb for Chinese fake spec'ed phones is, it's all lies. Same goes for foldables, where they all slap on durability numbers multiplied by ten. They don't care. That's how those brands treat consumers.
notafanboy, 04 Jan 2024Are you angry because I'm not rushing to the nearest Samsung store to "upgrade"... more"Are you angry because I'm not rushing to the nearest Samsung store to "upgrade" to the amazing, innovating piece of technology that is the S24 Ultra? Nice copium there."
I couldn't care less what you do with your money.
""as compared to what? entry-level market models" Putting words in my mouth, fanboy?"
Straightening your obviously exaggerated response. It seems I have to also describe the purpose of each sentence to you so you can accurately understand what written word means. Noted.
"I'm obviously not comparing it to entry level market models. I'm saying it's junk compared to other flagships. Not even "ultra", top of the shelf flagships. There are REGULAR flagships like for example the Vivo X100 Pro that are superior in nearly every way"
I'll reserve judgement for when tests are available. But the fact you can point a finger at winner between the two before they're even officially released clearly tells me your opinion has no solid grounds in reality. It's all wishful thinking no reasonable person would present as "truth".
You are literally comparing Bugatti to Ferrari calling one junk because the other is 1,5% faster and 5% cheaper, whereas both are lightyears ahead of anything mass market offers, and you think that is a reasonable expression of comparison results.
"Enjoy your incredible 1/3.52" telephoto for the third year in a row, I guess."
Last time I upgraded from S20FE to ZF4, which I now considering to switch to S24U.
There actually is a comparable difference in photo quality under different circumstances. irst, because ZF4 was so much newer than my old S20FE, albeit still criticized for its camera to be sub-par to the price. Whereas S24U will be, without a doubt, step up from ZF4's sensor. So yes, I'll actually enjoy it, IF I decide to switch the phone.
A realistic improvement scenario that makes sense - you could see it, if for a moment you decided to stop operating in extremes.
Ai..! Ai..!! Ai..!!! This is it.!!!
3x, 5x and 10x in one... Somehow I knew this was coming... But it's kind of' NOWAY 🤷BUT HOW POSSIBLE... It's 🧐
Now seeing Apple coping this would help them alot... At least to maintain the minimalistic design they don't wanna get rid off, would still be useful with this logic.
Bravo there Sam!

No Bluetooth 5.4 which has improved security and latency, and already being used in phones. Why don't the S24 have WiFi 7? These are flagship being released but they are not giving the latest connectivity technologies.
notafanboy, 04 Jan 2024The 10MP telephoto is a joke at this point. They're not even trying anymore. But I guess ... moreSensor is 12MP cropped to 10.
At this 69mm FL, it is all samsung can fit without sacrificing design.
If samsung wanted to have ugly thick bump to allow more space for camera system, it would be done already.
You wont be seeing donut size bump on galaxy phone anymore.
At most, samsung might pay sony to use exmor T tech on isocell and put on their phones with size of 1/1.28" that can already match regular type 1.0 or those 600MP isocell 1.0" behind much wider lens like 17-18mm to keep bump slim while removing the other 2 cameras (69mm and periscope).
