It's never a "great idea" when they horrendously undervalue phones for the sake of making a bigger profit. Meanwhile GSMArena is out here clickbaiting people by making them believe it's a discount.

The highest value is always during a new release and it is far more than 30% if you're trading in the previous model. People with the Flip 4 only paid $100 to upgrade to the Flip 5. How is that a scam?

You can't just pull out a phone you had sitting in the draw for the last 3 years and expect Samsung to give you $1000 dollars. Be reasonable. This isn't a charity. The status of your phone matters. They are trying to sell to the many. Not the few. There is a reason One Plus offered the most value for the iphone 14 and the Fold 5.

Traded my phone for a Fold 4 and two months after the warranty it won't power up and have to pay for repair! I'm a bit hesitant to buy another fold. My wife and I have the Flip 5 and hopefully it'll last.

MakeMotoBetterAgain, 13 Dec 2023Cool, but Samsung site has bad trade in value for moto phones.yes but moto devices don't cost much in the first place, with the added fact that they lose value about as fast as pixels.

Anonymous, 13 Dec 2023For those reading this who didn't know, GSMArena likes to pretend that trade-ins are free... moreYeah, I've seen a few trade-in programs from Samsung, which were like "trade in your NEW phone of THIS generation to get a measly 30% discount on a SLIGHTLY higher end phone" when you can literally sell your phone on ebay or something for TWICE the money.

Trade-in programs from Samsung never make sense in terms of finances. They're always offering you to throw money away.

I also tried to use a trade-in program from a local retailer. They offered me like $20 for my phone, I laughed and walked away. It was LG G2 and it easily sold for around $300 later. So yeah, in my experience, trade-ins are never meant for YOU to get a good deal.

Flips are flops. If you want a foldable, get a fold unless you have extremely tiny pockets.

"We may get a commission from qualifying sales." so Samsung DOES pay y'all to advertise their products.

Anonymous, 14 Dec 2023wrongAt least explain what is "wrong"

Otherwise that statement doesn't make much sense.

This site is indeed often claiming such info like it's nothing, but I can let that slip

Fact is, trade-ins are always a poor value, I mean in my country I can sell a S22 Ultra 256GB for at least 500 euro, but Samsung gives you 211 euro (as of 5 days ago, a friend traded his in sadly)

And other brands give even less, except Apple but those hold their value.

This site is slowly losing more and more credibility with me.

True journalism does not rely on misleading or clickbait headlines.

For the majority of people it is not, and usually trade-ins are scamming you out of a lot of value of your phone. Keep this in mind before considering this as a good deal.

I’m in the US and I think it’s a sham that everyone, in every place Samsung is available, doesn’t get the same deal.

And their definition of “drop” is misleading as h3ll. Websites need to word their headlines better. Like Z Flip5 is now available for up to 60% off with trad-ins and/or discounts.

Meanwhile in EU, on a good day we get €150.

Truly, the only reason US is getting these deals is due to how big Apple is there, and Samsung caring about that.
