I believe they can also easily add 7000-8000 mAh cells into current phones, making them only 2-3 mm thicker but it seems, like you said, people are ok with a 1-2 days of battery and slimmer phones. I think the ROG phone has 6000 mAh already and it's not a brick. So the manufacturers can put better batteries in, but it's getting there slowly
yeah new stuff for battery drain

everyone's happy with 1-2 days of battery right now
maybe in a decade we can expect 1 week of battery with better ergonomics
Anonymous, 11 Dec 2023Always fun to see Samsung calling bloatware "features".Never a buy smart tv
Generally speaking, I'm f***g fed up with "AI", including in photos on phones.
When selecting 50 megapixels in S23 the photos are artificially processed and cannot be turned off.
Which is stupid, limits the user's capabilities and artificially interferes with the photos. Let the user choose when and what is changed. Why take photos then if you dont have full control ? If this trend continues my next phone will be the Sony 1 V or 1 VI.
Image border expanding and clear voice calls are the only things I find useful. Other than that it's just useless stuff no one will care about or use.
Just more things to disable, for me

Anton el papi, 11 Dec 2023These companies spend millions on other things much more useless than what this post is announ... moreIt is not that it could not be done, but the technology is not there yet.
The kind of batteries you are wishing for has been in development for some years now, but it is not ready for mass production.
And before you say again that they are not trying hard enough, they are. It is not just smartphone, but basically every industry is waiting for this improvement in battery technology, even automotive industry, where lighter, compact but also, high capacity batteries are required. We just have to wait for that tech.
Consumers during the AI race: We don't want this anymore. Get this out of here!
Companies, etc. during the AI race: Let's give them more AI stuff because we care!!
I like how companies are capable of hearing their audience and still do the things their buyers don't want like this crap.
The AI boom/race is over and it's the next NFT boom. We're (as in certain people-who-cannot-be-named) bought into the NFT market and what do you know? It went flat like a couple of months later?
HyperionBurn, 11 Dec 2023how do you expect a week of charge?? 20000mah battery with a phone thicker than your 10 year o... moreThese companies spend millions on other things much more useless than what this post is announcing!!! Yes, a larger battery can be developed that does not affect ergonomics and to give those numbers it does not have to be large either!! Just a decade and a half ago, we were using HEAVY HARD DRIVES IN OUR PCs and solid state drives (SSDs) appeared and then we moved on to super fast m.2s, storage devices as small as your big toe. ! So if the manufacturers wanted to give us a battery capable of lasting a full week on a single charge, I'm sure it can be done.
