The reason they don't label it as IP68 is to keep the costs down. Certifications cost
Moreover, IP ratings DO NOT guarantee any sort of water resistance. Even phones with IP ratings fail in water sometimes
That being said, having the maximum IP rating is something appreciated in a phone, but it's not the absolute best protection against water or liquids
For example, I once spilled a huge cup of steaming warm coffee on my old phone that was not IP rated, and yet it was perfectly okay after a wipe. Just the speaker was muffled for a few days but after that, it was perfectly fine. On the other hand, I've heard of water resistant phones with maximum IP ratings fail after touching water

OnePlus makes great phones. I have had several over the years. However, I currently have the OnePlus Open and I see no need to change anytime soon. I think the Open is the better of the two for numerous reasons that can be found in many reviews all over the internet.

The lack of IP68 is unacceptable. I remember all the people on here defending brands removing the headphone jack and microSD because of IP68.
So if a phone doesn't have IP68 then there is absolutely no reason for it not have headphone jack and microSD and vice versa.
But as Sony shows you can have IP68 and a headphone jack and microSD together. So while maybe some of you will let billionaires insult you. I won't.

I was using Samsung S6 edge few years ago, it's screen has too many downsides, will never buy a curved screen in future. This one plus 12's curved screen is the deal breaker.

The reason why people only choose these 2 brands is because they can be trusted with credit card payments.
Also ONE UI is the best in the android world . There may be some bloatware, but everything can be disabled with a usb cable and adb tools - no root needed .
Note having a charger in the box is not such a big drawback . I'm using my laptop's usb-c charger for my phone and it's the best : 2 meters long , thick cable , fast charging 65W.
