TechFa, 19 Nov 2023Did you deliberately ignore the 1294 who said midrange chips are good enough? What part of that matters for the title of the article ?
I would ask you did you even read what i wrote and second part of the question would be did you understand what was written in it ?
Just take a look of the poll question then the answers and then this article title. There is no question of du you prefer or any answers that have prefer word in them

Before flagship soc didnt use more than 6W and phone sustain around 3W but nowadays mobile soc use more than 15W, they need vapour chambers and can't sustain all of its perfomance.

I'm still using a Nokia 8 with a SD835, and it prefectly fits my needs
Old flagship SoCs should be banned: they consume too much energy. The Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 is more than sufficient for most uses (soon to be replaced by the 7+ Gen 3). Let these people not complain about autonomy with the use of old SoCs

We have no issue with the power of the S23 FE, its the efficiency which is lacking, just look at the battery life and thermal performance of it
Any new entry level soc which on par snapdragon 845 ( 6 years soc ) ,shouldnt have problem to run any modern games in Gplay store.
Genshin minimum spec to run ..40fps + very low..was starting from snapdragon 845 and above. Which already 6 years old.
So dont rush every year buy new flagship soc just for sake play game at ultra setting. That is dum.b thing to do...
Snapdragon will be better
justasmile, 19 Nov 2023Runs perfectly well in being a microwave, yeah. The same could be said of the iPhone, or many other flagships if you want to game.
I feel the funny thing is that people who actually upgrade all the time and chase after "newer chipsets" just happen to do so accidentally, and they don't actually care about newer chipsets. A lot of the people who can actually afford new phones on the regular actually have things to do, and new phones are purchased more as part of a routine (on payment plans from their providers) and/or they like getting new things sometimes (to distract them from long work hours) and/or as a status symbol thing. Buying a whole new phone to get some more FPS in some dumb mobile game or something is pointless, and the chipset doesn't matter to most people. The thing that matters to most are things like form factor, new software support, and gimmicks like foldables etc. Even some of the people voting they have to have "the newest silicon" are probably just GSMArena lurkers who just wish they could always have the newest and the greatest as a status thing, but can't actually afford to (or they're spazzy oil barons, which is possible, and they do actually do that).

That's why Samsung has been using older flagship SoCs in its new FE Phones 😉
Smartphone processors need to be optimised for longer life updates and features. They're great as they are, but they could be better.
The FE series are pretty good. But thwy need even better sensors. They can have the same screen and almost all other hardware can remain the same.
Older flagship chipsets are usually found in last year's flagship phones with flagship rest of the hardware that are still better than current year midrange overall hardware though. If there's a midranger with a proper midrange chipset and older flagship rest of the hardware, I'd be interested in that. All we get right now is the opposite, that is an older flagship chipset with midrange rest of the hardware, which makes them basically just budget gaming focused phones.
Mid-range chips are good enough could've gotten even more votes if there were more phones with SD 7+ gen 2 available on the market.
ZeeNasir, 19 Nov 2023Buy a reasonable phone and use it for years. It's not necessary to buy latest and greates... morebeen using xz2 compact since 2020 (even bought it second) as a personal phone...
just changed it recently to isolate myself from android peers... 🤣 (shifted for the mean time on iphone se 3)
but, i am still keeping it as back-up...
I think the preference also changes as we age. When we are middle-aged or elderly, we don't really need top-of-the-line phones since we don't game that much, compared to younger generations. Even for the need of "showing off" may be less if you are already married lol.
