Hiding the IP address is a good thing but VPN connectivity should also be provided so that one can call their friends and family with ease. I'm out of my country and from my present location I'm not able to make call home country. For that particular reason I feel that IMO application is doing very good.
Cool beans, and it seems to propagate fast to users. But I want the multiple account support more. Why is that feature not rolling out as fast?
Anon40, 09 Nov 2023Hi. If you have Instagram, or Whatsapp, or some other social on your device which is under Met... moreNothing by the name of Meta, I have 2 such apps on my Android 10 device:-
1. Facebook App Installer,
2. Facebook App Manager,
Both are system apps, means I can't remove them without rooting..
So, I just disabled them, hoping that disabling it does something, but I doubt. The way Google is behaving, I doubt any move protects our privacy anymore.
yalim, 09 Nov 2023great... so brought a feature to protect scammers!Honestly I don't see any important to this features....why should one hide his IP location if not for fraud. Mr zuck you failed it this time
Good
Relaying via their servers mean they can listen in / record your calls, as you have chosen to put a "Man in the middle" . The IP address on your phone isn't a public one so it only shows your mobile provider.
Sam N8 808 owner, 09 Nov 2023Few days ago, a person once sent me the word "I'm Divorced now" on whatsapp...
... moreyes, that end to end encrytion is total BS
there was a time I send a photo of coffee capsule in a super market to my colleague through WA, next day my FB was filled with ad of coffee capsule
Wow! That's a feature now? Isn't it should be basic requirement of messenger app.
Sam N8 808 owner, 09 Nov 2023Few days ago, a person once sent me the word "I'm Divorced now" on whatsapp... ... moreHi. If you have Instagram, or Whatsapp, or some other social on your device which is under Meta, or uninstalled Facebook from your device under a separate setting the Meta Frameworks still gonna be there. I think for that you had the FB things on your device. Example: on my Samsung device, or Huawei if i install FB than deleting it Meta Frameworks stays on device unless i don't delete that neither.
Who even uses WhatsApp anymore?
But if we enable this then all our calls will go through WhatsApp servers (highly trusted😁).
And if not then it will be traceable through ISP and IP will be visible. We need to choose our poison.
Few days ago, a person once sent me the word "I'm Divorced now" on whatsapp...
Minutes later, I saw a suggested post from an unknown person with a divorce cake. Out of the blue...
So the end to end encryption and "Even whatsapp can't access your data" is all a big big, bullwaste.
I even found rogue apps of Facebook installer on my phone, although I never installed FB on it.
These corporates don't care anything about ethics.
This makes your call go WhatsApp Servers instead of End to End Encryption,
Are U sure this increases privacy?! 😅
Awesome
I do not understand why? This app is not following signal and telegram application!!
Just wondering, how the other party can get your IP anyway? Also, unless you're on a dedicated internet connecrion, your IP changes every now and then, isn't it? We can even use VPN to mask our actual IP. So, enabling this new 'feature' would be at least 2 steps backwards in securing yourself.
