From that model I made the jump to Android with an HTC dram, or better known as G one! Since then I have been on Android, except in 2020 with an iPhone 11 that I sold in 2021 and I jumped back to Android. But you are absolutely right, Nokia itself killed its entire ecosystem and that elop was just a trojan horse within Nokia, the fault of Microsoft, which wanted Nokia patents.

up until 2011, there were still many Symbian users... moreAlso Elop didn't release new phones, so people can't buy symbian if no new phone was released. Only Nokia 808 was released at end and even that was Enthuasist device.
Elop Feared Symbian and Meego would Eat windows phone Marketshare.

I had the N86, it was a great little phone, but released too late. I also remember GSM Arena's opinions regarding the Camera that didn't have Xenon Flash (how times change).

but after the infamous "burning platform" memo, many of them jump ship to Android, Blackberry, and iOS. nobody gives a damn about Symbian anymore because they knew there was no future for Symbian.

How I loved the Nokia N series!! fun times, and even more so when this Christmas season arrived, looking at the activities that at that time were many... nice times

even "china garbage" phones are more worth buying than hmd. there is nothing i can do about it. it's the reality 🤷♂️🤷♂️

Pretty sure that 'high point of Symbian' was Belle. Which was miles better compared to Spydroid back then.
But influencers (you too guys) messed with people's heads and we can see outcome. Inferior product, spyware masquerading as OS, won.

It was this time Nokia 5230 sold more than 150M units.
Then Elop came and ruined everything.

Had this one. After N91 music edition. Was a really great phone. Was upset with n97 after it and got 1st iPhone and that's it. Gone from interesting stuff for 14 years. But back to interesting folds now again

Today phones cost the same 1000+ with no improvements at all past few years. Samsung, Apple, Google etc.

They also had MeeGo into plan, that was a really briliant system on it' own, plus the fact that they wete working on bringing the posivility to install android apps and afaik symbian apps too. With Android comming hard and their MeeGo it is quite d. to even claim that Nokia was going down yatta yatta yatta. They were doing great, and that is the problem, they were sabotaged by 3 powers, apple google and microsoft, as all of them knew that with nokia upfront there will be no apple in europe, well at least not like it is now. Microsoft needs apple to be alive and google wanted their recently bought OS to succeed. That is when elop came in... A person that was slowly killing nokia with a smile on his face.
