This "AI" thing is quite overused. They just slap it to something cannot explain how it works and make it hype. But reality is, not all people will use that at least the current AI they mentioning.

Bigger companies should look further which AI function is actually useful to most users and will add more convenience.

For that Camera / Video still no. 1 and maybe no. 2 is how they could make Android and Phone resource allocate only needed based from user habit to automatically extend Battery life or improve Performance. The Latter is for me what most users need and very good application of this so called AI if its really true to its name.

It is a lost case in EU, having exynos chip and charging more for it than prev gen. Plus extra bloatware what u need to remove

Look at the A17 Pro, what do you get? Overheating phone that reduce consumer experience. What’s the point of that performance then? What’s the point of highest benchmark score if the phone throttles within minutes? And what do you want to do with that performance anyway? Just to run benchmarks? There’s a physical limit of a smartphone. So improvements gotta come from other places. Google knew this. The Pixel phones are not top benchmark performers, but Google keep adding AI features that make the Pixel smarter phone to use. Looks like Samsung is next.

Well, this is interesting to see what Samsung would do.

People made fun of Bixby, but OneUI has a feature called Bixby routines that no other Android phone has, not even Pixel. Bixby routines is very powerful, and can automate a lot of things on hardware level. Even Pixel doesn’t have this kind of feature, and no other Android phones do. Bixby routines are even more versatile in some automations than Apple’s Siri Shortcuts. It’s a really underrated feature. Thus I’m really interested what else Samsung can bring.

Chip raw performance is plateauing, limited by fabrication and heat dissipation in a phone form factor. The race is now on ML and AI. Google is leading the charge with Bart and the Pixel 8. Samsung seems going to be second. Apple is distant third. The rest of the OEMs will simply be commodity “dumb” smartphones as they don’t invest enough in their software.

Anonymous, 24 Oct 2023Excuse to not make the hardware the best when samsung has highest budget and revenue for that.... moreWell, the IMX789 you mentioned didn't perform quite so well in the devices that it did feature.
There is more to a sensor than just spec sheet. Its not just about the amount of light/data, but also the quality with which it can be captured.
With all due respect, I think its the other way around.

Also, of you don't like default calibration, you can switch to sRGB, which is accurate.

Samsung is supposed to use M13 material and Apple, M14 material for its display, and, the difference between the two is unknown as details of these are not officially released yet.

So, lets not speculate or trash on it without proper reason or information.

If you thought Bixby was dead and buried you'd be wrong. Samsung are actively developing and promoting it (as we saw at SDC) especially on refrigerators and home devices. I guess the positive knock on effect is that it'd also improve in Galaxy mobile?
