Anonymous, 23 Oct 2023It's interesting how you compare the worst flagship SoC of android to the ONLY SoC of App... moreIt's not the worst flagship SoC, you're talking about MT, ST is similar to Gen 2 / others as they're using the very same Cortex cores..

As for the Java being removed from Android comment, as far as I know all Android apps are written in Java and are optimized via dex2oat / ART / etc.

And for me seing Geekbench is cross-platform and AnTuTu isn't and people trying to prove otherwise, quoting AnTuTu website:

AnTuTu was developed based on the unique technologies of different platforms, such like Vulkan(Android) and Metal(iOS). cross-platform products may not be directly comparable.

Anonymous, 23 Oct 2023You know mediatek is from Taiwan right? Also, SoC cannot spy on people. Friend i know that but my coment was made for fun at first place and on the other hand in past even your TV could not spy on you. Nowdays even TVs comes with terms of agreement where you must agree with their laws, policies etc.
Even a feature phones like Nokia 105 for example have this othervise you could not use your phone for calls or texts.
Wouldnt be surprised if some backdoor unit will be mounted on chips.
Just like many electronics devices comes with kill switch where once your warranty is gone your device will die and you are forced to buy new one.

pl2rts, 23 Oct 2023How do they compete with Mediatek ?They dont directly compete or imply that they are competing with MediaTek (rather YouTubers and reviews pit the 2 together) but they do compete in the basic SoC race (as I call it). It's just a yearly race where chip manufacturers try to make the fastest and most efficient mobile SoC. This year, MediaTek upped their game.

Anonymous, 23 Oct 2023All mediatek cares about. Mediatek just can't get a break/win

If they perform worse than snapdragon people say " lol inferior processor"

If they try to perform better people say " that's all they are about power isn't everything efficiency matters"

So it seems the word "efficiency" is a tech word used to discredit

Mills, 23 Oct 2023At this point, Dimensity 9000 chips are beasts. Wonder how Apple and Qualcomm will respond to thisApple dont need to care what so ever as they dont do chips for other brands then only for there own. Qualcomm on the other hand is doing chips to everyone to use just like Mediatek so there is the competition for them

even A510 which used more power than A55 is still better than middle cores like A710,A78, A720 etc when it come to power consumption.

RealLifePhones, 23 Oct 2023Apple's chips are only ahead on geek.. sorry AppleBench 6 that is specifically optimized ... moreYou are mistaking single thread and multi thread comparison, you need a 12 cores M2 Max to be faster than that 28 cores Xeon, those Xeon cores are 5 years old, they have a low frequency, 3.1 Ghz, and Geekbench 6 doesnt scale cores linearly like other programs, only Cinebench scale linearly, for example encoding a H264 video it usually tops at about 28 threads, so you wouldnt be able to use all the 56 threads of that Xeon, you would use half. Real life is not Cinebench. Real life usage is more closer to Geekbench 6 than you think. And the base M1 gets smoked by the Xeon.

I honestly don't see this being sustainable as a regular chipset. I can see the upcoming ROG Phone 8 or RedMagic 9 phones with active cooling and large batteries use this, but a regular thin smartphone can't use this. There's a reason why nearly all chips use only one prime core. The X-cores are built with no regard for energy efficiency. If you have four of them, expect 20W+ of power usage.
