you have to suffer, 28 Sep 2023they are trying to be spotify. which its got music and podcasts condensed into one app.And that's why I don't like spotify lol. I use Tidal instead.
I don't really like Tidal either, but it's got HiFi playback for $5 a month so it was a no-brainer.

Never used to podcast and also not a big fan of youtube music but that is because I'm old school and prefer my own on-board music content over music streaming. Youtube music is not working great with on-board music but does a fine job when it comes to streaming however. To me it would make more sense to have only one youtube app with all in it, video, tv, music, podcast... It would diminish to sheer load of google app's which is something that is just google wanting to feel important by offering a shitload of apps. Instead it would be far more streamlined if many of these somehow similar apps would be grouped and where you choose to just consume the tabs (tabbed view) you want (or maybe select the functions that you want and hide the rest in the settings of these super apps). It would also allow decluttering your phone when you have a non pixel phone meaning that the manufacturer will probably have a shitload of own apps that does the same job (uhum Samsung, Xiaomi...)

Google adsense is the main revenue generator for google.
Then android ecosystem comes next in terms of revenue generation.
Every other products except these 2 are losing money or earning a penny on a dollar probably.

The first interaction with me with this app is It reminded me of my birthday back on 2020 without I noticed this app installed on my phone 😂😂😭 sure it made my sad because no one remembers my birthday on that day including me.

Like Youtube operating at a loss for decades that crushed the alternatives. Now they are free to do whatever since there is almost nowhere to go.

Having podcasts as its own separate app is not a luxury, it is mandatory! That's the way it should be, as it provides a quiet "safe space" away from distractions. It's like a library or an art gallery.
I don't want my comfy podcast listening experience ruined by ads and the sight of disgusting trending pop music. That's like integrating a library into a noisy amusement park. The two don't mix.
Also like another person said, I'd rather they just keep the same UI within the app.

also - this looks like another Google attempt to build walled garden (podcast RSS is open, YouTube tries very hard to make it accesible to the outside)...
it's so good to have alternatives!
google podcasts is much better, why bother condensate into one disastrous app?

Google podcast is without adds, now with YT music free plan you will get tons of ads. This is the modus operandi of the big ones, first free to get customers, then all paid or a mountain of annoying ads.
