Anonymous, 27 Sep 2023Stops cheap imitation parts and stolen phones being used for parts.Incorrect, many small shops all over the world offer Apple device repair services. Usually for at least half the price of what Apple demands in its official stores or vendor stores. Probably mostly in poorer countries though. I fixed my wife's iPhone 12 at one such shop two years ago and it's still working great for about 45% of the asking price in an official vendor store.
Anonymous, 26 Sep 2023Stops cheap imitation parts and stolen phones being used for parts. As far I know, Apple don’t want to sell their genuine parts to anyone so I don’t think fake and stolen parts are their first motivation
Anonymous, 26 Sep 2023Stops cheap imitation parts and stolen phones being used for parts.but they did not need to get too far. why does the back glass have to be serialized? i mean, there is no electrical components unless they put something inside them. it's just beyond pathetic, imagine if back glass breaks, you'd need to spend a lot of money just to replace
Anonymous, 26 Sep 2023Stops cheap imitation parts and stolen phones being used for parts.I agree with you.
I suspected that a metal backplate from a glass back to the whole phone was the reason why this phone shatters easily.
Imagine chipping a piece of glass so you can charge $200 to replace it
Give Apple a break, will you?
It has a Bixby Key!
That is "new"...
dxomark just released iphone review, 154 points, 2nd place...i know i know...no one cares about dxo anymore xD
potato4k, 26 Sep 2023“Apple still pairs each glass back to the corresponding device” Wait… what? So even the gla... moreThe electronics glued to the back glass (wireless charge, flash, lidar) are paired, not the glass itself.
"..hey of course you can repare your iphone! you just don't really want to jump through all the hoops and go through all the hassle, believe us. just buy a new iphone. it's easier.
they also don't like crappy chinese part makers intervening any longer, they can make iphone to not boot at all with non genuine display if they like
KacK, 26 Sep 2023Look at the ribbon for the wireless charging coil on the rear glass at the 3:49 mark of the vi... moreOkay, so there needs to be a clarification then. Is it purely just a glass back (which is impossible to check as it's not electrical), or is the glass panel a unit of both the glass and the coil (and in that case, technically the one being checked is the coil).
But obviously none of these "tech sites" will bother to check that.
Then repair wise, the question is, can those be separated.
Maria, 26 Sep 2023Oh I see, now I have the answer why iPhone 15 (esp. Pro/Pro Max) rear glass is easy to break.more profit for them to get to 3 trillion market value?
