ItzAMe, 14 Sep 2023I don't understand these things too much. But why is the score for Pro max lower than the Pro?I suspect that (at least one of the reasons) is due to the (slightly) higher resolution of the Pro Max version, there are 111 x 240 extra pixels, which may consume a little more processing power.
All for cameras, capcut, faceberg, and tiktok.
Bigmeme, 14 Sep 202310% improvement in performance is pretty disappointing. The process node upgrade alone should ... moreEven then, Qualcomm will take at least 2 years to reach this level of performance. As for Exymos/Tensor, they'll likely never even reach, they're still living in 888/8 gen 1 era. At this stage, Apple can afford to go easy on chip and focus on other things, yet lead benchmarks
JayRoar, 15 Sep 2023Death Stranding, Resident Evil 4 Remake, Assassin's Creed Mirage - may be next year, and ... moreI can't wait to see it, it's a console game it runs natively on mobile phones... If it came out to Android this would be crazy. I know there might be a slight decline in graphics, but this also proves that console games can run on mobile.
Guile6, 15 Sep 2023All those power but can't play emulator games such as ps2 or gamecube. What a waste. yes you can by sideload/jailbreaking it.

Mihai, 15 Sep 2023I think is the other way around.Pro max is faster than Pro for sure, you’ve made a mistake You ever pointed out any of all the mistakes you ever made to yourself?
Chidoro50, 15 Sep 2023Uhh, what price hike. There hasn't been one since the X which was 6 years agoMaybe where your from, the rest of the world has seen several
Hopefully there will be a tech site that will do a deep dive into the cores. At this point, this looks like to be simply another overclocked A15 with just another GPU core added, 8GB RAM, and USB3 controller.
So basically it's a 3-year-old chip
A16: 5nm+, overclocked A15, LPDDR5
A17 Pro: 3nm, more overclock, +1 GPU core, USB3 controller.
Will have to see what Apple brings for the M3. If not, seems like Apple is hitting a ceiling, or their silicon team have gone to greener pasteurs.

Anonymous, 15 Sep 2023Not much difference from A16 but huge price hike dies. 🤣🤣🤣Uhh, what price hike. There hasn't been one since the X which was 6 years ago
taylorswift13, 14 Sep 20238 gen 2 is quite behind the competition, MTK with the Dimensity 9200+ leads the mobile chipset... moreIn bechmarks perhaps but it's not that black & white.
For example if I buy an AMD RX7600 it will give me better raw performance than an Nvidia RTX 4060Ti would, but the Nvidia chip has far better compatibility, optimisation for most application as well as a superior suite of features.
Works the same with the Snapdragon vs Dimensity discussion.
Dimtons, 14 Sep 2023Hands down best CPU in a mobile phone we have to admit Best CPU? yeah technically that's correct.
But the SoC as a whole? not even close.

It's actually 10-15% over regular N5, but both N5P and N4 surely made that jump less impressive so let's say 5-10%. It's the power that's 30% down, again over N5.
Didn't Apple themselves pretty much say that there was only a 10% performance improvement for the CPU? Not sure why people are surprised about this lol.
I agree the performance increase should've been a bit higher, but still.

Anton., 14 Sep 2023so much power to upload photos and videos to tiktok and Instagram hahahaTrue. The problem with most of today's smartphones is not chip power.
So what happened to all those leaks and rumours which showed the A17 chipset scoring with over 3000 single, and 7900 multi. But here we only get 2900 single and 7200 multi.
Overall, the leaks were about +10% higher scoring. And that was inline with all the previous rumours and expectations. Either Apple is being anti-consumer and purposely underclocking these chipsets in order to make next year's chipsets look better. OR its that Apple really has hit their limits and aren't as innovative as they were 5-Years ago. Either way that is bad for iPhone users. But it means Android owners will be able to finally brag that their upcoming Snapdragon chipset is close, matches, or exceeds the metrics of Apple Silicon.
Me personally, I want to see progress. I want everyone to compete, and for consumers to have the best product possible for it's period. I don't want stagnation, or artificial limitation to products. If you want to run an Xbox 360 emulator on your phone, I think more power to you.
All those power but can't play emulator games such as ps2 or gamecube. What a waste.
