It just launched in Singapore so far so good I just used a week battery life can last 11 hours for normal 100%to 15 % the fast charger is depends on the phone I use Xiaomi car cigarette lighter charger 65 w 15 % to 95 % 40 min and sometime charge slower 15 % to 85 % 40 Min need depends on luck changing this phone in fast charge.
Cheaper than Japanese spec R8 and R8 pro SIM free. I am jealous.
I bought the softbank version of the R8 pro for 191200 yen (about $1300 worth)
As long as it does not comes to Europe other Asia countries, Australia or USA it does not matter much.
SuperSpruce, 15 Sep 2023Why are these phones (and the R8 and R8 Pro) not listed in the GSMArena database? It is because these are NOT sold usually outside of Japan. Sharp is like an idol in Japan only.
kevinmcmurtrie, 15 Sep 2023"Everyone is lying" doesn't make it right. Their argument is that they're... moreExactly. It's like how chip makers all lie about nanometers.
Please standardize the cameras on phones with the Trinity.
16mm
35mm
85mm
What is the use of a 1 inch sensor when portraits will be distorted by the wide angle lens. They should use 85mm and a decent sensor with aperture f1.4
kevinmcmurtrie, 15 Sep 2023"Everyone is lying" doesn't make it right. Their argument is that they're... moreCamera sensors, including modern day smartphones or mirrorless cameras, measure in this way that has been the industry standard since the 1950s. Should the industry change? Sure, but so far only some (inlcuding Sony) are on board.
Hence why Sony now markets the IMX989 as a Type 1 sensor, but it doesn't help when those who buy and use it still markets it as a 1" sensor, not even calling it a 1" type sensor. They do it, of course, because it is still the industry standard.
CRTs used overscan due to how the edge of the video would appear on those sets and so part of the picture was off screen and they therefore included it as the screen size.
When LCD and plasma came along, they also measured in same way - as it was, and still is the industry standard - including up to quarter of an inch around the panel. This means that there is half an inch reduction in total, so that a 32" was/is actually 31,5", 42" was/is 41.5", 50" was/is 49.5" and so on and so forth. This still applies today in TVs and a modern day 75" TV will have a 74.5" visible area when measured diagonally.
However, some sneaky electronics businesses and sellers tried to go one further around 15+ years ago in the US, and inlcuded the bezels in the size, calling a 38.5" TV for "40 in. class". This was shut down.
Marco M, 14 Sep 2023Not fake, just not measured how you expect.
1" as per camera sensor industry norm."Everyone is lying" doesn't make it right. Their argument is that they're using camera tube dimensions - something obsolete since the 1990s. Early LCD panel makers got in trouble for the same crap. They said a 30" TV is 36" because that's how big a 1950s color CRT would need to be, if it had existed.
Real cameras measure the active sensor area.
joe nodden, 14 Sep 2023So, fake, got it. It's an industry standard and always has been the way to describe the sensor size. With that said, nowadays some websites refer to it as "type sensor" because newcomers tend to get confused with the discrepancy between the image sensor format "inch" and the unit of length "inch".
Anonymous, 14 Sep 2023That is some typical comment section nonsense. No one. Absolutely no one, comes close to Samsu... moreExposure consistency is what every company nails nowadays, but consistent colour reproduction among multiple cameras is where some companies tend to struggle. Apple and Xiaomi do very well in this regard, Samsung is right up there with the top 2, and other brands (mainly BBK subbrands) fall a bit behind in this regard but they are still fine performers nonetheless.
Anonymous, 14 Sep 2023Same trick of xperia game enhancer to reach 480HzThat's pretty bonkers
joe nodden, 14 Sep 2023So, fake, got it. This is the kind of guy that calls everyone else wrong whenever he can't understand something.
joe nodden, 14 Sep 2023So, fake, got it. every camera sensor is measured like this, it goes wayyy back in time, it's weird yeah but nonetheless larger size = better
Love the R8/R8s Pro, but still not keen on the 19mm focal length. It makes sense for full-time landscape photographer or videographer, but that's about it.
Super Android 22, 14 Sep 2023I do agree you should get the most for your money, its why i used the s23 series as an example... moreThat is some typical comment section nonsense. No one. Absolutely no one, comes close to Samsung's exposure consistency across lenses. Not even a discussion there, bubba. Which is quite phenomenal considering Samsung use four completely different sensors and aperturens across their lenses. I guess, that is the REAL world knowledge you get for being a company with its phone camera roots coming from producing actual system cameras instead of being a wannabe brand tacking a "known" camera brand name on their cheap phones.
Super Android 22, 14 Sep 2023I do agree you should get the most for your money, its why i used the s23 series as an example... moreYeah that is true
rosesarerosie, 14 Sep 2023The S23s are only lacking when it comes to the UW, the TP and main cameras are perfectly fine,... moreI do agree you should get the most for your money, its why i used the s23 series as an example coz it has 2 good cameras and 3 very average ones (in my country they are not cheap phones) amd they are just "good" in other departments they arent good enough for the price points, its why if i had a choice for flagship I'd go for an find x6 pro, magic5 pro/ultimate, 13 ultra etc, get the best screens with more HDR format support, all cameras bar maybe selfies are the best/great, better charging, usually better side features like 360° nfc or high frequency pwm dimming, tri band modems etc.
You are again right, its only thing i could think of though with multiple rubbish cam set ups if that makes sense. Its only s23 line, obviously some foldables and vanilla iphone models that cost that much with good main and average other purpose cams. (iphone 13 cost more than my £400 find x5 but i had 2 imx766 cams with a rubbish samsung telephoto, think 13 has good main and an average UW (selfies honestly arent much different so good enoigh on both).
I mean the cam on the r8 pro can probably do atleast 2x zoom for portrait but you are right, even just a good UW with it would of made more sense, i think i remember reading somewhere in the Asian markets its more about good telephotos with a main than UW but i could be very wrong. If it was about £800 i think it wouldnt be as much of a put off.
Marco M, 14 Sep 2023Not fake, just not measured how you expect. 1" as per camera sensor industry norm. So, fake, got it.
BMHater12, 14 Sep 2023Hell, IGZO needs to be the standard for gaming phones because of that refresh rateNo it doesn't, it's just black frame insertion, any panel can do that.
