Anonymous, 12 Sep 2023Removing 69mm camera would not allow larger sensor inside periscope. Using bump thicker than... moreI never said it would 🤦
Some say that this isn't a periscope, but Wikipedia states:
"A periscope is an instrument for observation over, around or through an object, obstacle or condition that prevents direct line-of-sight observation from an observer's current position."
So, if the sensor is the observer, it's still a periscope.
Ivo., 13 Sep 2023No 10x zoom - dead on arrival!Dead on arrival eh? Somehow I highly doubt that.

There is so much misinformation. The 15 Pro main camera doesn't have a larger sensor than the 14 Pro. Many websites state that, but it's wrong as the pixel size and resolution is the same as previously.
Anonymous, 12 Sep 2023"The lens itself is an f/2.8, the brightest on a 120mm camera on a phone" Actually,... moreCorrection: Not Huawei Mate 40 Pro+ because that periscope has a 240mm field of view.

HOW THE F*** IS THAT POSSIBLE?! iPhones in your country are way too expensive compared here in the USA. Heck, even for the case of Sony Xperia 5 iv, we have to pay $999 for 128GB!
That's it, I'm gonna come to your country to smuggle my next Sony phone. This is absolutely ridiculous!
I saw the specs of the 15 Pro Max and I saw that the selfie camera does have OIS. Is that true?
With every passing year, the gap between iPhones and Android phones closes just a bit more. I used to be a die-hard Android person, but if Android keeps shooting itself in the foot while the EU keeps forcing Apple to open up its locks, I could see myself buying an iPhone as my main phone in the not too distant future.
Ivo., 13 Sep 2023No 10x zoom - dead on arrival!I am a bit surprised, too because Google gives you 11.4 megapixels at 240mm since the Pixel 7 Pro.
And it is possible that Apple would have to design a completely different lens, if they want to give you 48 megapixels at 120mm. The reason is that the sensor has only 1.12 micrometer pixels. A 48 megapixel sensor for this lens and for this field of view would require 0.56 (!) micrometer pixels. This pixel size is currently only available in 200 megapixel Tetra²pixel sensors as far as I know. So, I guess it is possible that there could be a Quad Bayer sensor with 0.56 micrometer pixels, but otherwise, Apple would need to design a new lens for a larger pixel size (larger sensor). Or alternatively, they could use for example a 31 megapixel Bayer sensor with 0.7 micrometer pixels.
Anonymous, 12 Sep 2023"The lens itself is an f/2.8, the brightest on a 120mm camera on a phone" Actually,... moreI just want to mention this again because this marketing behavior from Apple is not correct and it is completely misleading.
Parachute, 13 Sep 2023Why is Europe being 'Used' to subsidise the price paid in the US? Racketeering...?EU paying much more as payback for USB-C legislation and two-year warranties?
Anonymous, 13 Sep 2023"worse than this is the request to do it using DNG" No. Multi frame stacking often ... moreYou pretty much summarised what I wanted to tell ID:8N3 (or ID:0p} ) in the cleanest way possible, thank you. You saved my time.
Apple is US brand so it does not have 40% taxes just ot be sold in USA it's homeland (forget it's made in China, it is only the factory there). It is a US product sold in US.
Europe has the biggest taxes in the World, what do you expect?
Ivo., 13 Sep 2023No 10x zoom - dead on arrival!Mate, why are you saying 'dead on arrival' about a damn iPhone? It's still going to sell well even when most things stay the same.
Anonymous, 13 Sep 20231/4" was useless even in 2012, let alone 2020. Not for zoom lenses
SamsungRules, 12 Sep 2023My point is Samsung has 10x optical zoom camera best in the class. Not Huawei with 3x optical zoomHuawei had a 10x periscope on the Mate 40 Pro+, a year before Samsung put it on the S21 Ultra.
