Jongjave, 07 Sep 2023Smic N+2 is 7nm node not 14nm , its 2nd gen 5g modem called baron, 1st gen is balong 5g modemI know it's 7nm, but I made that statement because it's done with DUV which is considered to be inferior to EUV for 7nm and below. I think what SMIC has done is quite impressive. I wasn't clowning it, more making a point as to how they achieved such a feat with much less technology available. I believe TSMC also used DUV for their first 7nm chips, but I don't know if it was done the same way SMIC did it. Personally I'm quite happy with this news and I'm excited for what Huawei and SMIC are able to do next.

Well I know one fact for sure
Huawei knew exactly what they were doing. WITHOUT MUCH FANFARE?

It didn't take long for this to make the news and then some.

Plato “our need will be the real creator” which over time English proverb 'Necessity is the mother of invention
There was neccisity, there was invention, Huawei has been under sanctions since 2019?

                  https://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=12549&idPhone3=11856&idPhone2=10550
The comparison doesn't contain a Mate 50 Pro+ as like the article stated there was none, so the first Pro+ since the Mate 40+

News, you follow up on the news story, then you realise you're smack bang in the middle of the China / USA spat as if it happened yesterday

The Apple iPhone ban at work in some locations story is also linked to this also.

I am just going to list a few things, without offering any opinion, as that is both wrong, and way too early.
[Even if this is resolved still too early].

The phone has been called the Sanction buster, there are some who state that because Huawei have developed a 5G phone using 7nm chip (they had hoped Huawei would not be able to break 14nm) the sanctions were not tough enough.

Additionally where do these 7nm chips come?
Wiill further sanctions result against the chip maker believed responsible.

The phones existence should not be possible so the USA wants answers.
And that all I have to say on this as situation like this can quickly deteriorate with polarised opinions

If you need to see a scaled down GSMArena versiono of the above.
I have picked up a NEGATIVE IQ TROLL
