I think they&... moreI don't understand what do you mean, do you even know what "gatekeeping" means? Except Google Play Store, you can actually use all of the Google apps you mentioned on non-Google devices. While things like iMessage only works on Apple device.

Just li... moreI guess EU is just don't want something similar on US happened on EU. Apple is indeed gatekeeping it's user on US, but it's harder to do this on EU because almost no one in EU uses iMessage.
Also, Xiaomi is the 3rd biggest smartphone vendor in 2023. US is the one that ban Huawei and ZTE from their country, not EU. TikTok is mostly banned from goverment-related devices, and this is also happened in US.

Apple has made sure that my iPhone enables iMessage by itself every few days after I've explicitly disabled it, without any notification. I'm sure my phone is not the only one behaving like this.
Are Apple only counting active, consenting, and knowing users, maybe?
By the time people notice the message bubble is blue in color, Apple have already sucked up not only their recent messages, but the whole message history.

Yes you heard them loud and clear Apple, Amazon, Bytedance, Meta and Samsung! You guys are spoiling the EU market and destroying their citizens!
They only want Google with chinese phones cause thats true equality and fair market! EU only wants to use Honor and Xiaomi phones while telling China they are scum on X/Twitter only lets gooooo!

But Google best boi; Google Pixel, google chrome, gmail, google calendar, google assistant, google maps, google translate, google lens, google play, google movies, google wallet, google drive, google doc, google sheet, google slide, google chat, google meet, 95% search engine dominance is not gatekeeping les goooo!

Anonymous, 06 Sep 2023You’re seriously comparing a major national security issue with European crybabies desperately... moreI Believe pretty much "no one care about your blue bubble" it's interoperability : I'm on Apple Ecosystem, Use both Android and Apple, the fact they do not propose RCS force communicating with SMS in europe which is way over 30 years old protocol.(looked up)
So when you send video or picture from an Iphone to another operating system, it just show how idio* this thing is. (image and video are limited in size and compression)
Also I would prefer to have the abilities to change the Imessage look and feel, but apparently Apple think THEY only know what is best for their users!
Not just people on Android having a bad experience due to their policy the one on Apple too!
Ruining innovation, I'm glad that we finally have USB-C on Iphone and RCS soon ;
At the same time, Apple will be forced to have novelties to hold their fanbase!

Can't wait for others markets appstore on apple, RCS, and ability to mod the Iphone !

In fact, they don't. It's like saying Safari is the best browser because it's already built-in on iOS, iPadOS, and MacOS.

Voidz, 05 Sep 2023I know, that is what the EU plans to do with the gatekeeping messaging apps they plan to force... moreTbh with iMessage, you're actually getting "gatekeeped" by Apple so you only can use Apple products because iMessage is only available on it, that's literally what happened in US and why iPhone dominates US market, and EU just don't want something similar happened, even though, you know, iMessage is not even that popular in Europe.
