Bump is thicker than the phone.
Case needs to be ridiculously big.
P... moreFrom the article:
"The tipster goes on to say that the phone in the image uses the Sony IMX989 sensor and that nubia will release the phone after it manages to optimize its volume."
Read, please.
Will be interesting to see how this pans out. The main camera performance on the z50 ultra and z50s pro already perform really well and both are quite competitive against current phones with the imx989. Within China this year, Nubia is producing the best camera phones around the 3700-4,000 price point. Their phones are also great for pics of moving subject as the subject detection and tracking on nubias' phones is one of the best I've tried
If it will be keeping the same f-stop value of F1.6 from Z50S Pro, this will roughly translate to F2.9 on APS-C or F4.3 on FF (all at 35mm FF equivalent FoV) - That would be pretty amazing amount of light intake for a phone camera, and I'm expecting a decent quality bokeh (if not extremely smooth) out of such lens too.
I would expect them to throw some sort of variable aperture mechanism into the mix of features, though - Otherwise the depth of field would be way too shallow for certain types of photography such as document scanning or food table photos.
The team needs to review the z50s pro
Pretty soon, they will come out with phones 30mm thick but they will still advertise them as 8mm thick.
Just give us a bigger battery already! The camera hump is taking up so much space and you're not fooling anyone calling your phone "8mm... if you ignore half the phone!"

Lovely design, Like a modern 1020.
Maybe sloped sides would help to slide it in a pocket
George399, 29 Aug 2023Well we will never see how good it is because none techtuber will get one, neither GSMArena.Good, because those famous youtubers know nothing about photography.
DarlingYext, 29 Aug 2023Bro..
"..nubia will release the phone after it manages to optimize its volume."
... moreIf you knew about tech, you would not have said such lame thing.
The longer is FL, the thicker is the module. 1" at 35mm is thicker than 1" at 24mm.
This is why Sharp uses 19mm.
There is no way the whole sensor at 35mm can be used with module as slim as the one on the left.
DarlingYext, 29 Aug 2023Well, with a camera bump that big it would truly deserve the name Ultra."Ermm... What's that?"
"The ZTE nubia Z50S Ultra. Ultra Thicc."
Well we will never see how good it is because none techtuber will get one, neither GSMArena.
Vikass17, 29 Aug 2023Making whole phone thicker is always better . That way we can have a big battery too.And then u put it in a case and carry a brick in the pocket
Vikass17, 29 Aug 2023Making whole phone thicker is always better .
That way we can have a big battery too. That way we also have a larger brick that weight as a brick too
But i would agree on the point as i dont like the camera bumps and the size of the tablet the phones are today. It's the saying that people want larger screen. Well yeah we want larger screen but not the way they are doing it. Back in the day 5 plus years ago we also had large amount of bezel for the phones so if the bezel would be removed the screen can be bigger without making the phone bigger in dimensions. The removing 3.5mm jack was that they have no space cause they wanted to make the phones 6mm thick or like the one foldable phone that in folded state was 9mm so unfolded was like 4.5mm thick.
Making whole phone thicker is always better .
That way we can have a big battery too.
