An A15 based SoC! For what possible reason?
Am I the only one who would like to see a drastic reduction in the Apple Watch feature set, and a corresponding vast increase in battery life?
Imagine something like an Apple Watch ‘lite’ (yes I know Apple will never use the word lite in any product but bear with me here) that drops everything bar basic notification management and the necessary suite of health and fitness related features, yet lasts multiple days on a single charge, like 5 at the very least?
I am aware Apple put a battery saving mode into recent versions of Watch OS, but that is a joke as it turns off pretty much every feature you’d want to wear the dam for thing in the first place, and essentially renders the Watch little more than the cheapest Casio from the early 90’s.
I talking about dropping all the pretence about replicating ever more smart phone features on your wrist and instead focus on being a companion device only. One that lets a user monitor their health and fitness, plus triage notifications, and does that for multiple days at a time.
If Apple did this I would switch to such an Apple Watch immediately, but as long as they push for more and more complexity whilst keeping that ridiculous ‘up to 18 hour’ battery life, then I am out.

All these watches really need at this point is just longer lasting battery. The CPU has been really strong since the 6th gen, screen display is already as wide as one would need and it's beautiful.
Now if there's a way they can make a battery that lasts a whole week while paired to the phone 😆

If cpu is build on same technology (nm) it can not be much faster AND consuming less.
I allways say: big firms like apple, samsung, etc. are slowing technology improvement as they grow, because they can do so.
Just look at car industry: big players woud not be producing electric cars for another 30 years if new player would not appear - Tesla.
Same with Apple: why to make much better watch or phone if people enthusiastically buy new just with new colour or new smileys. Are we not stupid?

Can't wait for Apple to go green entirely so when you buy their phones, they only gave you a single phone wrapped in banana leaves. No box, no chargers, no cables.
And Samsung will follow suit soon after.
