The updates to the Fold might be the durability updates I've been wanting but Samsung has said something along those lines for the last few years now. Until I know it won't fail from regular usage after a few years, I won't put that much of my money towards a folding phone. I am seriously considering the Flip though, I know a few people with one. The specs do make it a bit hard to justify but the cool factor is enough to make it up for me.

I had a Flip 4 and it was an awesome phone but I went back to normal bar phones. I dropped it once or twice and was too worried that I was going to break it

Just make an informed decision and decide whether you wish to pay the extra attention and get the awesome screen as a return, or you don't want to be bothered and pick up slab phone instead.
It's really that simple and there really is no reason to keep moaning about something you don't want to pick up (I'm saying this in general to all the people who think bending Gorilla glass is a reality, not to you personally).

The most common accident would be you opening halfway then closing the device in your pocket or purse or bag, somehow with your keys between the screens and these phones have a snapping mechanism. Most keys have teeth, bye-bye 2000usd device, the repair costs you 800usd or similar for a phone that is 1000usd if bought second hand.
