You can literally buy an older Sony RX100 or Ricoh GR for a couple hundred USD and run circles around this phone and still have money to buy a different phone with better features. At this point it feels like the only reason people waste money on an expensive camera phone is so they can brag to their elderly parents how much money they wasted so they can take pictures of their pets.

(35/3.9)/5.21=f1.72, which is fine for a main camera that covers such a narrow field of view, IMO.

And to meet basic tech reportage standards you should do the math: 35/(2.7x5.21)=2.49. It's an f/2.49, quite poor for a main module, it's the numeric aperture that determines light capture after all. I was expecting no worse than f/2.1, the hump looks very thick too.

... moreAt the same shutter speed and exposure level, a m43 sensor paired with an F2.8 lens would perform almost identically to an APS-C sensor paired with an F4 lens, unless you shoot at the base ISO on both - the same logic applies here.

Two options:
1) indeed better

The first is not possible with imx800 ( 1/1.49") .. mi 13 pro does do ruin photos like find x6 pro at point to be beaten by other using much smaller cameras.
Aperture like f1.4 or f1.2 would not help. Even if lens lets more light in compared to f1.9 of xiaomi, sensor has weaker light sensitivity compared to 989. Light is not absorbed at higher level .
