Nhìn xem wow 24GB 🤔
SuperSpruce, 08 Jul 2023I love that this phone is breaking new records and offering more storage than most phones. ... moreIts LPDDRX5 which is vastly different from DDR5, and storage is UFS4 instead of ssd(m.2 or sata) so this is not direct comparison.
Zero, 05 Jul 2023If this manages to get a Windows 11 port, the 24 GB RAM has a LOT of sense then since it might... moreyou're on to something you genius. do you mean i can potentially play elden ring and mk1 on my phone?
YUKI93, 05 Jul 2023THIS! With such a vast amount of RAM, we should have no problem natively running desktop Linux... moreBecause Linux is so lightweight (at least if you pick a lightweight distro), this should work on a phone with 4GB, even 3GB of RAM. But with 24GB if RAM, this would be a beast of a machine, able to run many heavy applications at once.
I love that this phone is breaking new records and offering more storage than most phones.
But the markups are absurd. It costs nearly $500 to go from 8/128 to 24/1000. 875GB of additional SSD storage costs $40, and 16GB DDR5 costs another $40. So that's a 500% markup, maybe a bit less due to the novelty of 24GB RAM. The most disgusting markup is the $55 going from 128GB storage to 256GB storage, which is an 800% markup.
Hemedans, 07 Jul 2023People dont buy real games in Android thats why dev dont care, check Xcom 2 playstore it sold ... moreThis is why I don't really play mobile phone games unless mihoyo
All other games feel "not full version"
Steam is more fun.

$99 device like retroid pocket 2+ can play retro games for more than 10 hours, can deck, switch or Rog Ally do this? If someone want to play Gba, Nes, Gamecube or any low end sytem would you recomend Rp2+ or Deck?
Every device has its own advantage but you fanboys will argue all time, its pointless.
Hemedans, 06 Jul 2023Emulation enable you to have all system in one device. Imagine traveling carrying your Gaming ... moreDuck your emulation nonsense, you take Steam deck or take Rog Ally and simply destroy your emulations on a tiny shitty phone. Steam Deck and Ally play real PC games and emulates also all your stuff, except it has physical controls and much bigger screens, you can toss your crappy phone into the bin when it comes to gaming, even Switch would do a way better job in gaming than any smartphone, why? well switch has games, phones simply doesn't :)
having gaming phones is basically as having mac and trying to play PC games on mac :D

Also Skyline Developers their approach is Like Steam os or Wine, they dont Emulate everything, they translate Api and use less resource, i wont be suprised if they do same thing to their windows Emulator.
Mediatek sux, 07 Jul 2023I thought you actually tested this with games, with gpus of similar performance but with diffe... moreOnly few adreno GPU models are in two variants of RAM, so it is hard to find two smartphones on market which would meet the condition for this kind of specific test.
But I tried 3dmark wild life test on my zen 8 with adreno 660 clocked on @315MHz and then @840MHz. CPU was barelly used during test and the max. temperatures were under throttling levels GPU(63°C and 82°C), CPU(56°C and 64°C).
The results were 4929(29.5fps) and 5832(34.9fps).
2,6x difference in GPU frequency and only 1.18x difference in fps, which means something is bottleneck and I am almost 100% sure it is the shared RAM memory system.

Mediatek sux, 07 Jul 2023So youre just theorising? Reply back when you do an actual test.Theorising?
I already made test using that app. Memory copy speed is almost the same as read and write speed. You don't need more test to confirm the fact that even maximum throughput RAM memory is able to reach, is far behind the VRAM throughput on desktop GPUs.
The rest is very well known fact every mobile game developer should knows, that when you need to sample large amount of textures in shaders, you run out the memory bandwidth very quickly and the fps will drop a lot. Sampling textures is the slowest operation which cannot be improved with better code algorithms, because it has only HW limitation.

Why not talking about the porting of Windows Game (or console game) to Android?
Android have massive users,
and I think the 16GB+ RAM will mark more "Full-size" game port into Android
blue, 06 Jul 2023As if there was such person. Please, stop imagining nonsense.Am one of those people then, not just me go to playstore check individual downloads of Emulators, popular ones reached over 100M downloads. Even Newer Emulator like Aethersx2 already surpass 5M Downloads. Windows/X86 Emulator will be more popular than any system.
