AnonD-1090716, 07 Jun 2023Lol. Apple fanboys are even more funny. The custom rom boosts performance on the device. Th... moreSo the S3 with a custom ROM will be faster than an iPhone X? With your logic I should take a two-decade old blackberry, slap a custom ROM into it and call it faster than the iPhone 14 Pro Max? Or even better, get a no brand windows PC from 1990, put a custom Linux distro onto it and say it’s faster than the Mac Pro?

There is no doubt that software is important but to say that it can magically speed up old hardware by astronomical amounts is a lie. Software actually is part of what makes the iPhone so good, it is the combination of the best hardware with custom engineered software to harness that power. It’s also something an android can never have.

SShock, 07 Jun 2023App updates are irrelevant, they are not doing anything to the system core, they are just apps. Some apps are forcing users to update the app or it won't be useable.

But you do not get app updates anymore from a 9 years old iPhone and you also lose app functionality from some popular app (like whatsapp)

And I am not even talking about Custom ROM, where a 2013 Galaxy Note 3 could have the latest Android OS 13.

The fact that iPhone X and iPhone 8 not getting iOS 17 is not the end of the world for those phones, what Apple meant is that those phones won’t be getting any new features, they’ll still be getting security and stability updates which will make them run faster and apps will still be supported of these phones for years to come, for those that have these phones and don’t care about new features, the phone is still very much usable.

iPhone X deserves atleast one more major update. Looking at the history of how well Apple has supported its phones, this could have easily been one of those.

I tried them in 2022 and they were completely unusable. Even for basic tasks like google maps, they had lot of lag. And the phones that I tried were Samsung phones (older Note and S series phones). I don't even want to imagine some older Chinese phone.
A newer Galaxy A series phone is at least 2x times better. And not only speed. Even basic things like wi-fi connection or bluetooth work miles better.
But go ahead and lie over and over again, just to try and prove a point that doesn't exist.

Longer update support actually hurt device, not help it. Upgraded code always sabotage old hardware.
