Unless the Flip 5 comes out with a bigger battery, the Razr 40 is the way to go if you want a flip phone with good battery life. Battery Life is my main focus, so I'd take this over the Flip 4 every time. That said, I'll take my Galaxy S23 over all of them because it's superior in every way and pretty compact, which is why I got it over any Razr or Samsung Flip.

Even a 2022 Z Flip4 is still far better choice, because:
          IPX8 rating
          8 gen 1+ soc
Longer software support (until August 2027)
          600-700 USD market price
          Popular samsung brand
          Beautiful One UI
Better network of official store/service center

People sure need to be a hardcore samsung hater (plus low IQ digits) to even consider buying this inferior motorola phone.

This Razr 40 is basically high midrange at this point.

                    Foldable Clamshell Design Tiers

                    A: X Flip, Razr 40 & 40 Ultra, Z Flip 3 & 4
                    B: Z Flip 5, Find N2 Flip, Razr 2022
                    C: P50 Pocket, Pocket S
                    D: Z Flip & 5G

                    My Favorite Book-Style Foldable Designs
                    1. Find N & N2
                    2. Pixel Fold

Leaning towards the first gen Find N. While it's thicker and heavier than the N2, it has the more rounded sides and wireless charging. Too bad it won't work on my AT&T prepaid unlimited plan because AT&T is picky.

Razr 40 is what the unreleased TCL foldable clamshell from 2021 should've been. The TCL flip codenamed the Chicago Project that would've been sold cheaper than the Z Flip 3 ($1000) and Razr 5G ($1400) in 2021.

Seriously? You must be joking. You want foldable for $450?
Recomending slab phones as alternative to foldable clamshell?

                        😂🤣🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

                        1) only the type of screen can cost 2x what regular screen can cost.
                        2) folding mechanism is costly and takes huge R&D
                        3) ppl who buy this type of phones , buy because they dont want regular phone
                        4) this one is for ppl that dont want samsung, nor huge screen of 40 ultra.

Apple would be easily asking $1800 for one based on iphone 14 ( aka iphone 13 with new name) ..

Ppl here need to stop saying everyone should buy phone based on SoC.

I would buy this razr 40. Even if SoC was SD480.

If you already own a Z Flip 3 or 4, the Razr 40 doesn't make much sense. The 888 and 8+ Gen 1 are still superior to a 7 Gen 1. But if you don't own those Z Flips, want a bigger battery, want that soft touch material, and don't like that Samsung trench of a crease, then the Razr 40 makes a compelling option.

'Meaningful' cheaper better mean at least $400 cheaper. If priced at $700-$800, there are far better options like an iPhone 14 and Pixel 7 Pro with better SoCs for a little more. Razr 40 should try to compete in price with the iPhone SE and Pixel 7a.

What I really want is a Sony flip. I've seen the rumor for an Xperia Compact return but no cover display? They're still a very popular form factor in Japan after 20 years. Why not cater to their home country? I want a Sony flip, a Pixel flip, and an iPhone flip if we're never getting back the iPhone minis.

Oppo Find N and N2 still offers the best outer displays until the Pixel Fold is out as it's basically like using an iPhone 12 or 13 mini but nearly twice as thick, wider, and heavier. While the Pixel Fold is about the same height as a Nexus 5 in height (140 mm range) .

"We'd also guess the leather-like material will fare better against scratches than glass."

What? Breaking or shattering, yes. But scratches?
Also what material is underneath the leather? I don't think it's just leather covering the internal components, which would make it worse than having glass. Still a tech site can't provide that information in their reviews.
