Like to see MediaTek and Nvidia make a netbook and laptop competitor to Apple's M2 M3 chipset

First of all, x8... morebecause mediatek offers powerful performance at lower prices, i would like to see how mediatek will make x86 processor. or maybe, will never happen anytime. because phones nowadays are becoming full fledged computers in terms of ram sizes

you have to suffer, 22 May 2023mediatek should make x86 processor. it would obliterate amd and intel for sure💯💯💯🙏🙏🤯🤯💪💪🔥🔥🔥It is impossible, even if we think possible it will be suicide for Mediatek.
First of all, x86 arch driven by two giants and it is not open source (Opensource means not always free, there are fees to pay to ARM) and not customisable by own configurations or additions which is possible by ARM.

So, that tells Intel neither Amd wont allow any 3rd party to use or customise or develop its tech.

It is logic, because by all means, x86 is far superrior to ARM by raw processing power and capabilities but there are also ARM's advantages that is why Intel and AMD uses it as secondary cpu.

First of all it is much more efficient, more flexible, more simple, more customisable, programmable which x86 doesnt provide that option, in most cases arm doesnt need active cooling, it is more resistant to external conditions (cold, warm, wet or damp ) so it needs lesser protection and lesser power.

ARM is growing slowly but also strong, through years may be it can match x86 by raw power but with lesser power.
So, wise way to choose for Mediatek stick with ARM not to go for X86.

Hope it can challenge Apple's M1 and M2 chipsets in laptops

Good that they are diversifying, would be surprising to see how it will perform. So far, I have not seen any windows for ARM in my area though. If this is going to be a good value one with decent performance, it will be amazing budget laptops, similar to netbooks, but better.

This SoC will be for laptops, not smartphones.

                        Graphic cards have :
                        - GPU
                        - image processing unit
                        - video decoder
                        - video encoder

You can have a very good GPU and a bad video decoder...
For exemple Amlogic S905X4 has a bad GPU but is able to decode 4k/60/AV1
And Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 has a very good GPU but isn't able to (speaking about hardware decoding).

Graphic cards aren't only usefull for gaming, but it's not necessarily the GPU that will be involved on other tasks

As much as I like this news, Microsoft themselves have to step up a gear to give better Windows on ARM experience. Eventhough Microsoft won't force developers to go ARM only, unlike Apple, Microsoft needs to get the x86 emulation compatibility layer done right.

Will it scale well though? That's what I'm wondering. Nvidia GPUs don't seem to be that efficient in a large hardware already.
