PCs and Loptops are Litterally more expensive why not try to earn 550dollars for a Corei5 with rtx3050?

Mampara, 17 Apr 2023Hope we get better Chromebook chipsets yeah like intel core i3 at low price..
most core i3 or i5 powered chromebooks are expensive, celery chromebooks are everywhere. i really hope intel discontinued their celeron lineup for good, so there are no future budget laptops that are powered with celeron.

ishreal, 14 Apr 2023Not sure how you see Intel's fabs "mostly unusable" since they hit their yield ... moreFact that they delayed launches.

If you delay, it means the current yields are unacceptable, impractical for mass production.

So, continue to make older design, and size.

Also, TSMC released 7nm+ in 2019, with density surpassing that of Intel 7 (which Intel still use to make their 13th gen CPUs).

ishreal, 13 Apr 2023The nanometer indication is mostly inaccurate anyways since it's all based on transistor ... moreYields also play a big part. Intel have terrible yield.. either they trying something new.. or simply did not catch up.

So what if they claim more density.. but most of it is broken or unusable? The less yield.. the more unprofitable (or release more i7 i3 i5.. while the perfect i9 is rare).. the more miss chance to perform R&D.. it's a vicious cycle.

So keep same nm.. make reliable chips with good yield.. or take the dive.. make smaller.. and risk bad yields. Or make bigger chips.. and risk bad yield.

Thats why intel now is below amd..

One fact that's relevant is that Intel's 10nm process is actually denser than TSMC's 7nm. Per pcgamer: "Intel reports a density of 100.76MTr/mm2 (mega-transistor per squared millimetre) for its 10nm process, while TSMC's 7nm process is said to land a little behind at 91.2MTr/mm2 (via Wikichip(opens in new tab))."
