GG, 13 Apr 2023This android 14 beta broke my Pixel 7 FP sensor.. I can't believe this situation. To be fair. Beta is beta, but basic hardware-related functionality should not break. Someone should have, at least, tried to use the fp sensor prior to beta release..

Leanzazzy, 13 Apr 2023Did they remove that? I think there would be a huge backlash if they did.there are some rumors that android 14 would restrict sideloading
Honestly instead of adding more features, I wish they could just improve on the bare minimum stuff like smoother subtler transitions and animations throughout the UI, as well as better use of space, because so far Material-You-based Android still doesn't feel as polished compared to iOS in terms of user interface and user experience (yes, sorry I'm comparing to the fruit).

There are very few quality of life improvements that came with the later systems (e.g. Doze in Marshmallow) but nearly all good features were simply taken from custom ROMs so you could have them anyway without any restrictions.
Now Android is locking everything down more and more and it's getting harder for apps to actually work and many don't or run with limited functionality on A11 or higher (because A11 introduced scoped storage, where apps could only create and access files in a single directory).
This goes especially for root apps because by default the changes they make are system-wide.

GG, 13 Apr 2023This android 14 beta broke my Pixel 7 FP sensor.. I can't believe this situation. No shit...it's literally a Beta version. Version 1 too.
Bugs and issues are to be expected. That's the reason it's not publicly released yet.
As a beta tester, you're supposed to provide feedback so the developers can actually try to improve and fix the bug.
But I guess you signed up to for the beta programme simply because you wanted the latest version of Android, not because you actually wanted to help test and improve a beta OS for the benefit of others.
