skarp, 12 Apr 20231080p front camera, usb 2.0, 8k 24p, over $1000 no thanksYou know photographers hardly ever take selfies so who cares about front camera?
What hurry you have with the USB so 2.0 is not enough?
Are you transfering gigabytes of data multiple times a day or whats the point to have any faster USB?
8K 24fps is fine, since you don't have 8K monitor anyways as most of us don't so thats useless and quality is not going be any superior in phone camera so you see difference is it shot in 8K or 4K.
I guess you are some kind of spec sheet warrior and not a real user of high end phones.
This is very nice device for photographers.

will be strong challenge
Hi, I've been subscribing to you guys since 2018, I'm a MI user since 2017, we're can I purchase the Xiaomi 13 pro online? Do they ship it here in the US?
Anonymous, 12 Apr 2023Just because sensor is larger, does not mean it is more expensive.
Quadbayers are easier to ... moreSony charges more for IMX989 than the smaller IMX707 and they charge more the the IMX707 than the smaller IMX766 and so on and so forth.
Larger sensors also cause a need for larger optics, which also ups the cost and they take up more space - especially with OIS and/or sensor shift etc which again also ups the cost compared to smaller sensors.
This is why the smaller IMX766, and equivalent, is available in around 90 devices from the upper mid range to entry level flagship devices with only 62 of them having OIS.
Whilst the IMX707/IMX700, and equivalent, is only available in 19 higher tier flagship devices - all of which with OIS and/or sensor shift.
I hope to see more phones with the IMX989 in the time to come. I doubt we will see much bigger sensors in smartphones anytime soon, due to the physical requirements/limitations. So now lets just get going on the optimization and refinement :-)
Anonymous, 12 Apr 2023This "co-development" means saying the specs they wanted. Nothing more. Xioami pai... moreThe point was that this sensor exists due to push from Xiaomi and 15 million dollars :-)
Not all products appear before the demand. In fact, it usually is the demand that causes a product to be made.
The variable aperture/dual aperture on the main sensor is interesting. Although, it's nothing new it is the first time on a 1" type sensor. The f4.0 aperture option might be useful when taking group photos of people and keeping those further back in better focus
Anonymous, 12 Apr 2023LOL! According to Geekbench, it’s not even faster than A15 Bionic. As I said that power is wasted power. If you like limits good for you.
You guys are circulating fake renders. If you see the profile of the creator his renders for the mi 10 ultra, 13 pro and 12s ultra are totally inaccurate. It's going to be chunky phone with a double sized speaker pill like the one shown in the case leaks.
Anonymous, 12 Apr 2023LOL! According to Geekbench, it’s not even faster than A15 Bionic. But Antutu says the other way round.
Don't trust benchmarks 100%.
In performance, the 8 Gen 2 wipes the floor with the A15, especially in gaming.

Anonymous, 12 Apr 2023This "co-development" means saying the specs they wanted. Nothing more. Xioami pai... moreNice explanation. It’s spot-on. Xiaomeme, and other cheap Chinese companies, just wants to bilk dumb Westerners while offering way cheaper prices at home. That’s all.

nick, 12 Apr 2023..exactly bro, and it's on purpose..selling last year's SoC (Apple A15 Bionic) phones $100USD more expensive than last year's model was also did on purpose...
Bogdaan, 12 Apr 2023No, please stay with your apple products. Finally, some honesty from you Android fangirls. It’s quite refreshing, lol.
Phone looks pretty rad. I'd like to see this thing in the US
Marco M, 12 Apr 2023Sony didn't develop the IMX989 by themselves. Xiaomi co-developed it with them, hence the... moreJust because sensor is larger, does not mean it is more expensive.
Quadbayers are easier to make compared to bayer of same resolution.
Sony semicon has many different fab processes, majority of exmor are gen2 fab while other sensors are gen4, gen5 or gen6.
Imx803 (iphones pro) is probably made at tsmc. Since sony semicon alone cannot handle the volume of sensors ordered, part of production is by tsmc.
