Apologies for the wrong link in my comment below on FDI in Indian retail. Here is the correct link:

    https://techcrunch.com/2019/08/28/india-foreign-direct-investment-fdi-rules-apple/

    Extract:
"New Delhi said Wednesday evening that it is easing sourcing norms for single-brand retailers like Apple. As part of the new proposal, which has been approved, the government said single-brand retail companies will be allowed to open online stores before they set up presence in the bricks-and-mortar market."

rizki1, 05 Apr 2023trillion dollar company and yet just opened first store in India.Because FDI (foreign direct investment) in retail was not allowed as per laws and rules:

      https://tech.hindustantimes.com/tech/news/apple-to-start-online-sales-in-india-after-government-eases-fdi-norms-story-ausR4In0O3BdzZFIqdjiYO.html

Now it has been allowed. There are a lot of Apple stores already, but those are legally run by local partner companies.

People in India have a mentality of value for money thing. If they realize that the product they are buying is overpriced for what it offers, they don't buy it (search for alternative).
Apple's overpriced devices in India are just status symbol. Couldn't you figure out why chinese devices are abundant here. Value for Money.

rizki1, 05 Apr 2023trillion dollar company and yet just opened first store in India. It’s because Apple is really expensive over there and most people can’t even afford their cheapest products due to various factors. People are still viewing the old iPhone X, XR, and SE models on this site, according to its Top 10 by Daily Interest list. I’m sure a lot of them are Indians or are living in India. I thought you Android fangirls were more logically than this, lol.

[deleted post]Everybody has an opinion. You're so naive that you think Apple only makes Smartphones! I've used Apple products and I've sticked to Macbook and despite all of that I find them overpriced with respect to what they offer. You find that okay and you're entitled to your opinion. Stop defending a company like its giving you a cut from its profit, that too without any logical argument otherwise you would get far more worse than mom jokes.

Until they put a number row on the keyboard and allo- basically become android, they’re basically irrelevant outside the US imho.
