f3.5/f2.1/1.1=1.5
Then the p60pro cmos size could be 150% times smaller than p50pro and keep the same effective diameter.

Anonymous, 23 Mar 2023Huawei could have had 8g2 4G. Mate 50 Pro from 2022 has 8+g1, that was current gen. Apparently, according to the Chinese media at least, Qualcomm didn't get approval as of yet to supply them with the snapdragon 8 gen 2. I read a Chinese article a month or two back which stated that approval has not been granted yet to supply Huawei with the new processor at least as of yet

That is why sayin... moreTheoretically it is possible that the 178% more (278% as much) statement means smaller sensor + RYB filter, but that's unlikely because (3.5/2.1)² = 2.78 (the advantage of the RYB filter would have to be exactly (!) as large as the disadvantage of a smaller sensor) and because they are talking about the aperture.

That is why sayin... moreThe f-number has nothing to do with the colour filter array. The f-number is focal length / effective aperture diameter.
The effective aperture diameter is often called entrance pupil diameter.

Anonymous, 24 Mar 2023I don't understand most of these term but why S23U has shorter effective focal length tha... moreI haven't listed the focal lengths, but the effective aperture diameters, which can be calculated by effective diameter (also known as entrance pupil diameter) = focal length / f-number.
1. The larger the effective aperture diameter the sharper can a photo of a distant object theoretically(!) be due to an effect called diffraction. That's a reason why telescopes must be so large. Of course there must be enough pixels per object and the lens must be good and there are other factors, but if pixel size (in micrometer) / f-number is approximately between 0.1 and 0.2 for Bayer sensors , then even smaller pixels (more pixels per object) won't really help anymore due to diffraction (this has nothing to do with noise). Instead of diffraction one could also say "due to Heisenberg's uncertainty principle".
2. The larger the effective aperture diameter the more light per time can be captured from a distant object, no matter which sensor size.

That is why saying it has 1/2" is not necessarily true.
1/2.4" with RYYB would be more light sensitive than RGGB 1/2" already.
Then you go from f3.5 to f2.1.
Rumors say p60 pro has imx858. 858 is new sensor 48MP 1/2.4". I believe vivo is using as well.
Hard to imagine at this point huawei would use old 586.

Huawei was... moreYou don't seem to understand my post as your post has nothing to do with what I wrote. Huawei's website states "aperture that takes in 178% more light" , "Compared to HUAWEI P50 Pro. Data is based on Huawei Lab test results."
This has nothing to do with the color filter array because they are talking about the aperture. Also, the total amount of light is described by sensor area / f-number². This means that one can compare the total amount of light by comparing the f-numbers, if the sensor area is the same. That's why Huawei's 178% more light than P50 Pro statement = 278% as much light as P50 Pro is correctly described by (3.5/2.1)² = 2.78 , so they didn't took the color filter array into account here. If the sensor size wasn't the same, then (3.5/2.1)² wouldn't be correct. It would be (3.5/2.1)² * (new sensor area / old sensor area). By the way, the P50 Pro periscope camera had a sensor area of 31.2mm² because it had a focal length of 16.85mm.

Also, I don't think you take the marketing percentage as true value for the list. You should update the list when we know the actual measurement of P60 Pro periscope sensor.
On the other hand, I wonder what's ZTE Axon 40 Ultra effective focal length as it has 64MP periscope sensor.
