Seems like no one is actually bothering to check, but the model number listed "XQ-DQ72" belongs to the Xperia 1 V.

Sony needs to work on getting the WiFi calling working on their devices here in the US. I love my Xperia 5 III but still run into issues with cellular from time to time and it's disappointing my Xperia XZ1 compact had it but the newer ones don't.

Calling the Xperia 5 line-up "compact" is RIDICULOUS.
The phones are BIGGER than the regular S2x and iPhone and iPhone Pro, thanks to Sony's insistence on the silly 21:9 aspect ratio.

I also doubt they'll release the 5 with 16GB of RAM. There's no point in it neither for Sony nor for its customers.

And I hope Sony would keep giving us an option unlike others who chickened out following some terrible trend.

Samsung user, 25 Feb 2023No need to waste energy defending this phone. No one would buy it anyway, due to lack of so... moreNo information yet.

In October I'd pay $1200 max (5g devices aren't perfected yet for *both* carriers and manufacturers. 6E is still new. Updated "newest" Bluetooth is expected)

mark 5 would be worth trying.

                      Clickbait.

Design name with a whole lot of speculation.

16GB of RAM is ridiculous. Marketing ploy. Nobody would use. Smartphones can't use it. *Fix and update other issues first like overheating, CPU, connectivity*

16GB RAM isn't even in Xperia 1 yet (it would be in PRO, then Xperia 1, finally Xperia 5. Never in Xperia 10)

256GB storage isn't standard for Xperia 1 yet.

Same gimmick as megapixels. (More doesn't mean better) Sony is staying with 12MP, updating sensors and zoom capabilities.

Samsung user, 25 Feb 2023No need to waste energy defending this phone. No one would buy it anyway, due to lack of so... moreSales (quality vs quantity)

Every flagship Sony smartphone lasted me 4+ years without a problem. (No need to update every 2-3 years)

                        - best battery life
                        - waterproof design from the beginning
                        - best screens. No need for edge-displays. (No notches, no in screen FIPS)
                        - best software. PROFESSIONAL QUALITY (audio, camera, screens...)

                        I still estimate $250 per year for smartphones (4 years @ $1000)

REASON WHY SONY DROPPED CONSUMER DEVICES. focused on flagship and prosumer devices (people in general are stupid and must be pointed towards what they need, should have)

Software updates aren't needed past 3 years. It's a gimmick. Most people *lose or break* their phones by the 3rd year. Then there is the mentality of always buying newer things. (Wow company must care about consumers with "CONSTANT" updates = phone was poorly designed needing constant patches = manufactures attempt to attract new customers)

                        _____

would you still support a PC if they kept update patches for outdated Hardware and OS (still trying to fix a windows 98, being past 4 OS systems old. And 20 hardware years outdated. It still works) that company would be bankrupt. Consumers would complain. (Newest update didn't fix my problem, being outdated Hardware = tech support thinking buy a newer device, stop being cheap. Move on)

i might get the 1v as planned, but i still have the options to settle for 1iv or wait for 1vi... depending on what 1v offers... the midrange 10v seems good too, but is quite small... (so does this 5v)
