Hemedans, 23 Feb 2023No phone with sd 8+ G1 is midrange. True, a phone with the Qualcomm 8 gen 1+ isn't mid-range is a flagship.

Exynos in the high-end segment are excellent.

Yet another reminder to get the A52s while you can if you're searching for a midranger and don't want to buy Chinese for whatever reason.

            I prefer the new cores
2x A715 + 6x A510 will be perfect for me, I never play games on my smartphone
but i want better speed as my Snapdragon 720G with lower power consumption
This Exynos 1380 is still not perfect choice :(

Kinda weak, slower than dimensity 1080 and definitely will have bad thermal as usual with those exynos and Samsung fab combined.

Literally Samsung : we have a great exynos 1080 chipset, but screw it, we gonna make an inferior chip

This chip being able to support USF3.1 is a big deal. I think part of the reason for the A53 poor performance was it's older slower storage. I know it won't be a big jump but it's enough to make it a solid contender in that price point. The A51 was really the last 400 midrange Samsung that was actually solid and besides the SE 2nd gen one of the best midrange options of 2020. If they put the ufs 3.1 in the A54 it'll be good and probably make the phone leads faster (source) I work at a retail store that sells the A53

There is a saying in cars that goes „there is no replacement for displacement“ and for processors, at least to a certain degree (like not 10 years of difference but for the first few years), that’s true here as well. There‘s no replacement for die area really.

https://youtu.be/c1j5p4iNvRM (note that A78 is TSMC 5nm and A715 in this case is TSMC 4nm, yet A78 is more efficient for low to medium load)

However, TSMC 4nm is a sizeable advantage over Samsung 5nm.

Sounds fine, even if not the best process on the market (because it‘s probably Samsung foundry), the core setup is good for the price point.

No the 780 has only been in one device and that one does 35 in car Scene which, at a 2400x1080p resolution is one of the higher scores from a Snapdragon 855. It beats the Snapdragon 855 in cpu, and it destroys it in battery efficiency. Plus it has an integrated 5g modem. And many newer technologies that were not included in the 855. And you can force enable 4k60 without any problems as Google force enabled 4k60 on a Snapdragon 765 which is much weaker.
