The way they currently built, you could easily attach plug in clips to outer extremeties of the back cover and corresponding holes on the mid frame. In any case it's easy on Android phones to remove the battery. The back cover is possible to remove with your fingernails.

The amount of things you can do with it will make you mad in first hour in use so ditch it.
All phones have removable batteries

This is one of the reasons why removable battery does not make sense these days. Both the phone and the battery must have a totally different construction, which means much lower capacity. 3000 mAh for a phone of this size? With a decent chipset it would die in an hour.
Anonymous, 26 Jan 2023The first on many more to come with removable battery...If they keep it in the low price segment, then they can come anytime... Only a few are going to buy.

IpsDisplay, 26 Jan 2023Because this phone can be "done to order"
I know we are tempted project our tech ... moreThat makes a lot of sense. A very informative answer. Thank you.
But wouldn't that argument make sense only for a household name like Samsung? I'm not familiar with the American phoen market landscape, but is TCL a brand with a following in the mobile phone scene? (I only know that they have a good name in TVs). If TCL is a well-known name like Samsung, then I understand
But I do wish they didn't make that much of a cut back to the chip - the Helio G25 is such a bad chip. I had the pleasure of using a Helio P35, which is a slightly more powerful chip and yet, the experience was very sluggish, it was okay for calling, and light browsing, but anything else and it would chug hard.
Instead of approaching it from a "it's a novelty device. The novelty of a removable battery will make customers digest the poor experience", they should approach it from a "let's make a good-for-the-price experience phone and then make sure it has a removable battery". The second approach would make them vastly better and who knows? If done right, we could even see a small resurgence of this, even if it would be a very niche market share, but a steady supply of these as more and more companies realise the demand for these types of phones.
One can dream...
Unimpressive specs though
Too bad its carrier locked, would pick this one up if it goes mainstream as budget phone with all of them features intact.
HopeFilledIdiot, 26 Jan 2023Why do phones like this always compromise on the chipset... There's no need for this aggr... moreBecause this phone can be "done to order"
I know we are tempted project our tech priorities /desires unto the world
But in reality a company like metro could just do a Collab with TCL and say I need a phone that cost 60 dollars to make ... What is the best you can do for me
Then metro should have researched well their target audience . the only specs that matter is "below $120"
I remember years ago when I used to work in customer service when you ask a customer what phone they had.. they would say "a Samsung phone " they couldn't even tell you the model
A popular answerthat told me all I needed to know about the average consumer (aka the masses)
The only way you could get them that their smartphone isn't compatible with 5ghz band to get maximum WiFi speed wirelessly
Is to basically in a nice way tell them their phone is "cheap"
The lower the price bracket the more "binary" those customers think:
Price: I can or can't afford it
Camera: good or bad
Chipsets: don't know what that is
