TechBoy-Dexe, 22 Jan 2023It's their API. They can do whatever they want with it.although i support this change, the problem is how the API is being provided. just not like YouTube where you can basically use it to spam others.

Ok, 21 Jan 2023Yeah it was alot more cool when it was used as a tool for the US government to silence people ... more"Important stories" to who ?. Not everyone finds the same things (be that news, information or other worldly issues) important. So (from what you appear to be saying), it wasn't showing or allowing to be shared the stories that YOU found important...

There's nothing good about it. If anything, it gives Twitter more power to control their monopoly. People should support free and open source (FOSS) movement as it hinders monopoly.

I would dream of giving a penny to the manchild who owns twitter. I used it for years but when he bought it first I enforced strict rules in my ad block extension and now I have completely dump it. Join Mastodon guys, there is no need to deal with a manchild and his mid life crisis.

I was a big Twitter user, was an evangelist for it to the media in it’s early days (back when it was a lot of SMS) and have cultivated a lot of friendships through it.

I used Tweetbot, so it now being banned means that I no longer use Twitter. Funnily enough I’d only recently changed my username to ‘Elon Musk is a c**t’ (but without the asterisks because I’m English), and so it would seem as that will be my lasting monument for what was once a great app.

So essentially Twitter wants everyone to use the main app only. Too be fair I only use the official app anyways.

Blocking 3rd party developers from cultivating the ecosphere is the definition of "not being cool". Twitter now officially is NOT COOL, but just another commercial web application...
