For me it's not screen size but phone size... Everything over 160mm is simply too huge in my opinion... Why the current trend is to make suge huge phones? I have no idea...
I think 6.5 is the best. Large at first but you get used quickly. And 6.7 is a little too large.
This might be due to popularity and support on the side of Asus. It would be different if a company like Samsung does it.
Screen size matters for everyday use, gaming, watching anything. 6-6-5 inch is the sweet spot long as it's a 120hz and an amoled or oled screen, but battery size and life is probably top thing for me. Battery life / size then display, RAM amount, cameras. The base galaxy should be 4000mah, the plus 4500 and the ultra 5000, or bump it up 4500 for base, 5000 for plus , and 5500 or 6000 for the ultra. Nothing less though. Our phones should last a whole day without needing charge on moderate use.
Bloodin, 22 Jan 2023Poll says 6.7 is the least preferred but sales says otherwise. Because 6.7 inch iPhone Pro Max... moreDeal is this, average consumer wants biggest screen possible, every person I know who isn't tech savvy wants big screen and it's one of most important things for them.
Deal is, those people won't be talking about phones online, so these polls don't include their opinion.

Current gen :
1 has base 256GB, 5 has 128GB. Also 1 has 512GB option.
1 has 12/16GB ram, 5 has 8.
1 has periscope, 5 does not.
1 has ToF, 5 does not.
Mark 1 both were equal, except main camera sensor (imx445 vs 563) and battery.
Mark 2 were equal, except ToF .
Mark 3 have many differences, so do mark 4.

"screen size matters a lot, the ideal for most people is 6.1" - - - SONY realised that 4 years ago announcing XPERIA 5 series. ❤️
Poll says 6.7 is the least preferred but sales says otherwise. Because 6.7 inch iPhone Pro Max series are the best sellers of iPhone models for the last 3 years.
Edit: Nope, i thought it was, but non pro iPhone models were best sellers it seems. Anyway, 6.7 iPhone Pro Max models are second best seller iPhones :)
Anonymous, 22 Jan 2023we could have smaller models like the first note as you mentioned, but then say goodbye to 500... moreWell, Sony Xperia 10 IV has 5000 mAh ...

How many of you bought Zenfone 9? It has no competition in the android space, so why isn't it flying off the shelves? Going by what some of you are saying, that phone should be so successful that other OEMs would be green with envy, would realize the big mistake they are making by not making small phones. So, why isn't that happening? If zenfone 9 doesn't post enviable sales figures, why would other OEMs dip their feet into the small market considering that, then, they'd have to even struggle for the few buyers with Asus? It doesn't make any sense to advance despite result of the "experiment" being underwhelming.
My sweet spot is 6.3 inches with minimal bezels, but 'm not so much of an idealistic that I'm oblivious of the reality: most people prefer phones with larger display.

My Redmi 9T is a conventionally bulky phone, almost 1cm thick and has a 6.5-inch+ display, still fits perfectly in my pocket and can be used somewhat conveniently one-handed.
If your hands are smaller, pay up or buy an older Zenfone/iPhone.
6.2" - 6.3" would be perfect.
6.1 with a tad wider please.
Anonymous, 22 Jan 2023It's possible, just not really convenient.
Don't forget older Note models, the firs... moreThe OG note is still weirdly massive. It was 83 mm wide with a 71 mm wide screen, for context the modern S22Ultra and IP14PM are around 80mm wide.
Only a handful of phones were wider than it [mate 20x (7.2 18.7:3), Xperia Z Ultra (6.4 16:9), Zenfone 3 Ultra (6.9 16:9)]
If the OG note had today's all screen phone design it would be 7.4"

5.8 to 6 inch is perfect pocket friendly fone. A gaming fone or business fone can be larger like plus, pro or pro Plus but majority want something that can fit into a pocket otherwise I will stand with a tablet at my ears looking important so everyone can see the dork I am
Cyberchum, 22 Jan 2023Your argument works against you, actually. If there are few small phones available for purchas... moreI understand your counter-argument, however you're missing two very important details: price and battery life.
People who don't have much money will most likely buy a big sub-300€ phone with two day battery life instead of a 850€ iPhone 13 mini which might not have enough juice for some, even if they prefer the smaller screen size.
The market is absolutely flooded with good, cheap phones, which are also huge. Tell me, what is a sub 300€ phone with a screen smaller than 6 inches, very decent performance and that also has two day battery life? There isn't one.
Manufacturer's prey on the psychological concept that we seem to link bigger things to better value and also the concept of "battery anxiety". People don't want to get stranded in the middle of nowhere with no battery, even if they live 365 days a year inside of a city, with outlets everywhere.
It's absolutely possible to have good, cheap, small phones with great battery life that would sell really well. It doesn't happen, simply because for manufacturers it wouldn't be as profitable as the current operational model. They don't care about consumer's wants or needs, they choose what makes them the most money while simultaneously having the lowest risk.
