No one is going to be making custom panels for them for that amount of products. Apple on the other hand is a giant and the amount of panels they order for iPhones makes Sony look like a garage operation. Yes, Apple can order custom parts and they do.

RealLifePhones, 15 Jan 2023you seem like someone who is to uneducated to do math so let me show you: Apple Watch has 338... moreYou're right that Apple Watches will need smaller LEDs, but you're completely wrong that companies can only manufacture sub 2" and 76"+ microLED displays and nothing in between. As I said, it's about resolutions. Tianma introduced a 480p 7.56" microLED display in 2019: https://news.thomasnet.com/companystory/tianma-s-mini-led-hdr-and-micro-led-displays-named-people-s-choice-award-winners-at-display-week-2019-40025391. If you use lower resolutions, you can manufacture smaller microLED displays.
Anonymous, 15 Jan 2023Nonsense. It's about the resolution. If the resolution is the same, a smaller screen will... moreyou seem like someone who is to uneducated to do math so let me show you:
Apple Watch has 338ppi
the diagonal pixel count of a 4K TV: sqrt(3840^2 + 2160^2) = 4405,8 pixels
the size of a 4K TV with the pixel density of an apple watch would therefore be: 4405,8p/338ppi = 13"
that's you need different materials/smaller pixels for the apple watch than for a 55" TV
SShock, 14 Jan 2023Just because one doesn't make something doesn't mean they are not innovating. NVIDIA... moreThe similar words you said me before. And I trashed you accordingly. You don't have even minimum knowledge before comparing display and microprocessors.
About microprocessors, non fab makers didn't got all themselves. They follow a standardized method. It's not like as they design their own ic then come up with a complete new things. It's even not like as Apple or Nvidia don't fab their own ic, they can't. They can do it with a little efforts with minimum infrastructure development.
Making display is completely a different thing. It's a total development of r&d and infrastructure. OEMs don't do anything other than calibrating their panels, or making the whole monitor set with a pre built display panel. Like sony, tcl, hisense do. Sony buys the pre built panels from manufacturers, then make a complete tv with their own developed monitor set, processor, circuit layout, diode or capacitor layout and so on.
You're just confused and not well informed in the first place.
SShock, 14 Jan 2023Just because one doesn't make something doesn't mean they are not innovating. NVIDIA... moreApart from Bionic chipset, i don't know anything that apple designs (not even camera lenses or sensor).
PhoneFreak45, 14 Jan 2023Yeah to be honest you're right. As I type this on my V60, I can't help but be angry ... moreAs someone who bought LG flagships from Optimus G (the original which was like the Nexus 4 but with higher storage option) to the the g8x, I can tell you that LG phones were truly innovative except, they never tried to make their phones easy to hold.
All of the were too wide.
Even the original Optimus G was hard to hold compared to the likes of HTC one.
Bootloop issue wasn't something everyone faced, some faced other issues.🤣
Anyway, LG never really got the fandom that Samsung got and they never even try their best in tablet space. Honestly their efforts were half hearted at best after one implementation or so in every single scenario.
But yea, still love how much the V series offered...
RealLifePhones, 14 Jan 2023there are different production methods and materials used for microLED. companies can already ... moreNonsense. It's about the resolution. If the resolution is the same, a smaller screen will need smaller LEDs. However, if the resolution is much lower, a smaller screen may not need smaller LEDs. The resolution of a 4K TV is about 40 times of that of the Apple Watch Ultra screen.

For a screen with the resolution of 502 x 410, you only need about 20,000 LEDs while you need about 8 million LEDs for a 4K screen.
Anonymous , 14 Jan 2023Yeah Lg is the one of microled patent holder. But wasn't Apple saying about a custom pane... moreJust because one doesn't make something doesn't mean they are not innovating. NVIDIA manufactures nothing. AMD manufactures nothing. ARM doesn't manufacture anything either and same goes for Mediatek and Qualcomm. You folks here have no clue what fabless companies even are and just because they use contractors to manufacture physical products, it doesn't mean they are always stock OEM components those vendors happen to offer. Which especially applies to Apple.

Dunte, 14 Jan 2023LG should reconsider smartphone manufacturing. They were the best INNOVATORS. Dunte, I have to agree. Honestly, it's pretty sad they left the market.

Also fun fact: the G7 started bootlooping in 2018 and who knows, there might have been even more cases that weren't reported (maybe not such a fun fact but quite disturbing actually)
I loved LG but after this i would never buy another of their phones even if they came back, no offense
