Actually bad idea, Elon Musk will only create more check marks for that. But yes for some people who use Twitter this checkmark crap might make them feel like they are nobodies, I guess how anyone feels when they dont have a check mark but someone “famous” does. There really could be more equality with the checkmark systems but in reality a star isnt more important the a normal civilian.
It works based on USA IP address and USA already verified re-tweets with name and address found on whitepages dot com.
BrianCoriour, 28 Nov 2022I really dont get the point of verification and why some people want it. Just to brag about so... moreIt kinda matters when you're public persona or account for organization. It designates that you're an actual representative of some company or you're actually account of a musician or actor and not someone pretending to be that person, potentially scamming people. Question is, how it's done. The way Twitter did it under absolute genius Elon Musk was so bad even a elementary school kid could see it was a bad idea. Verify and then allow user to change their info to anything they like. Which totally got abused in 5 seconds and all they had was to spend 8 bucks. It was hilarious and just shows how "geniuses" can't think 2 steps ahead of their ego.

Sheeesh, that's daunting. Very unlikely to be sustainable on the long.
Therefore apparently a bruteforce fix for s.th. he/they realised is mission critical.
I like the commitment it demonstrates.
Hope they will find s.h. more efficient in the future.
Everyone else would immediatly copy that, for sure
BrianCoriour, 28 Nov 2022I really dont get the point of verification and why some people want it. Just to brag about so... moreThe point is to make others know that you're the real person, not an impersonated one. Fake accounts impersonating famous people are quite common.

In other words, the wealth of his father isn't what made him rich. What people think of him is another matter.
I really dont get the point of verification and why some people want it. Just to brag about some check mark on an app.

Tesla and SpaceX have received billions in subsidies and tax reliefs from governments around the world. Musk has a big ego and will say anything to make himself look like the smartest and bestest man alive. Sorry, but people that adore and even worship Musk are just too gullible.
Btw, collapse of Theranos and recently FTX are examples of why its a bad idea to be too enamoured and awed by the cult of personality of so-called geniuses.

I don't know the details in this case, but generally angel investors get to own shares. Why would anyone give him money for free? Angel investors want profits from their investment. He owned only about 7% of shares. In any case, the wealth of his father has pretty much nothing with his current wealth.

His father gave him and his brother $28,000 when they found Zip2. That was a small amount of money for business. According to him, the total funding was about $200K. Also whats with the Twitter Blue subscriber price increase? I never used twitter and probably only will for business but this is sad to those people who are deep Twitter Users.
SShock, 26 Nov 2022How much is Elon paying you to defend his dumbness? Or are you just one of his crazy mega fans?Elon Musk is not dumb, you don't become the richest person on earth by being dumb. What Musk is doing is a noble cause. It's either he fixes Twitter or Twitter will be gone. Either way, the problem with Twitter is fixed.
Anonymous, 26 Nov 2022Who needs Twitter anymore 😂🤣🙅🏻♂️News media, journalists, companies, politicians, governments, famous people, and the people who want to hold them accountable. I don't know where you are from, but it's my understanding that Democracy works best if the people are knowledgeable, have a voice and can hold their elected officials accountable.

All individuals will have blue check marks. It doesn't matter if you are a nobody or a celebrity. Different colors are simply for indicating types of users. I don't think that different colors are necessary, but it doesn't mean that companies are better than individuals or the other way around.
