SShock, 24 Nov 2022But it's just 100MHz more and core design is same as the rest of performance cores. It ju... moreExactly.
The Cortex-X1 is a Cortex-A78 with higher bandwidth, more cache, and more transistors. While that sounds great on-paper, in real-world things need to be considered and balanced properly. A phone's processor runs between 1W-9W, it rarely works above the 5W bracket and sticks to a 3W range.
Fact is the Cortex-X1 isn't great for phones, but some of that assessment comes from the use of sub-par lithography in the Exynos 2100, Exynos 2200, Tensor 1, Tensor 2, QSD 888, and QSD 888+. We kind-of saw with the QC 8g1+ and MTK D9000 using (TSMC) good 6nm-grade nodes, that it was more acceptable. On lesser 8nm-grade nodes, which were 20%-40% worse, it had many problems. But with the upcoming 4nm-grade nodes in 2024 (20%-50%) it should be better suited.
Personally I'd like to see something like 2+4+0 where we take the smallest big core (Cortex-A73) and tune it to run between very slow and moderate. With the upcoming nodes we can do that. Get rid of those slow small cores (Cortex-A55). While for performance we can squeeze 2x of huge cores (Cortex-X1) with the upcoming nodes so they can work more efficiently. This is just a crude idea, obviously they can take this concept and move forward with it. Making something custom designed, just like how Apple went.
Dj, 23 Nov 2022900k antutu ?? somethings off , I bet you can't do that with just clock speed bump. That is why I found it strange. Maybe is also 1 GPU core more?
there should not be any hardware which is not capable of shoting good pic in Infinix. 200MP HP1 and 60MP OV60A which are best in class sensors which is already used.
The only problem good photo algorithm and camera optimization.
Anonymous, 24 Nov 2022It's good on a single core benchmark testBut it's just 100MHz more and core design is same as the rest of performance cores. It just doesn't matter. If it had the X core which I'm guessing also has more cache available along with higher core it might, but not in this case.
What a good news👍

They can also work at lower speed to preserve battery.
Anonymous, 23 Nov 2022disappointed...why use same gpu like last gen? ☹️Because, it turn out the production of 8100 is better than expected, and they managed to get a better quality chip.
The 8200 is simply a faster speed version of 8100.

The dimensity 8100 is already power efficient enough even better than the sd888 or 8gen1(not the plus version). If the higher overclock utilizes without sacrificing the TDP, that would be great. Higher TDP means higher heat regenate.
Disappointing. I was expecting the ARMv9 cores. Even the Snapdragon 7G1 has them. They should have refreshed the Dimensity 9000 and made it into the 8200.
How will this compare to the Dimensity 1200 (in the xiaomi 11T etc)? Will 1200 be more power efficient? And how is the power comparison?

Way better than the rusty Snapdragon 782 that will be used in the upper midrange devices, i dunno where's the gen 1 soc device is
Anonymous, 23 Nov 2022This will kick the sd 860/870D8100 already kicked 870. It's on par with SD888 but with better heat management and power consumption.
