    Wait..... 8 Gen 2 only supports 4K 60hz on-device display?

Does anyone know if that's a downgrade from the 8 Gen 1?

In other words did the Xperia 1 IV run 4K at 60hz? If that phone ran 4K in 120hz then it's totally a downgrade.

Fulljack, 18 Nov 2022I'm not saying A710 are bad, all I'm saying is Qualcomm shouldn't use A710 core... moreWhat market to be specific? The reason 32bit is still here its because market isnt ready, there is huge demand for people who still use 32bit app.

Its not l... moreI'm not saying A710 are bad, all I'm saying is Qualcomm shouldn't use A710 core in their Gen 2 just for that 32-bit app support. I'm blaming Qualcomm for their lack of respect to engineering design as the market has been keep pushing to drop legacy 32-bit libraries, as their decision has been clear that it was made by MBAs and not hardware engineer.

you should reread my comment. Qualcomm has the choice to drop A510 and A710 cores, and instead using Cortex-X3 and A715 cores but they didn't. they don't want to tweak it accordingly. I'm blaming Qualcomm incompetence in their lack of engineering to their products.

Its not like they had any choice when they realise A710 is bad. Developing Cpu architecture take years.

BTW Yesterday Qualcomm teased new Custom Oryon core (they rename Nuvia to Oryon) its on track to be shipped late 2023, it means early 2023 we will get preliminary benchmarks.

And their target is 2200 geekbench single core score, by 2023 thats will be top tier perfomance,

Hemedans, 16 Nov 2022dont feed me words i didnt say, no where in my comment i mention kryo, i said krait. as i s... moreKrait are old news. why would I care about Krait cores which last used in 2016 with Snapdragon 820? sure, it's innovative back then but Qualcomm doesn't use it anymore so what's the point?

I also don't care about speculation to upcoming Nuvia products. until it's released, I am 100% sceptic with its performance claim.

my point is Qualcomm are hindering their own innovation, as of currently, with still using older A710 cores just for that terribly old, absolutely obsolete 32-bit app, which mind you, are available in 64-bit if it's on Play Store in the past 3 years, which are 99% of app there. meanwhile, Arm small cores, which is A510 or A55 are also only efficient in terms of space. who still needs OoO cores in their flagship 2023 smartphone? it's not actually power efficient, nor it has the performance for daily tasks, which at this point only needed for idle task. should've been thrown away and just fully embrace A715 core with efficiency in mind and not pushing it past it's efficiency curve.

so AV1 are useful, though? because more and more videos are released on 4K, so people who watch it on their phones, tablets, or even TVs will need hardware decoding. good thing we're in agreement in this regard, then.

Wi-Fi and mmWave 5G are Qualcomm bread and butter, so I guess it's fine if they wanted to make it as fast as possible on their flagship even though real world performance would be much more spotty.

Every launch newest chipset talk about more efficient, but if you bought flagship smartphone, never gotnnormal use of such smartphones for more than 1 week. For normal use 2 days is already quite good, even most flagship smartphones charge in the morning, lasting until the evening of the same day is charged again.

All we need now is a flagship phone that offers both Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and Dimensity 9200 option. I'm really waiting for Vivo's upcoming X90 series.
