If you want to get better performance, who prevents you from using 64-bit apps that are faster than the 32-bit versions? 32-bit app support is for compatibility. Having 32-bit app support doesn't mean that you can't use 64-bit apps. Also, in reality, as I said, almost all 64-bit and 32-bit apps have comparable performance. Finally, if you believe that dropping 32-bit app support will magically makes 64-bit apps up to 25% faster, you are extremely stupid. Dropping 32-bit app support doesn't have any effect on existing 64-bit apps.

This. It's a cost-saving measure. Google just wants to maximize the profit because its phones aren't popular.
Anonymous, 29 Oct 202232-bit should not even be a thing in 2022....You probably dont even know what's 32 bits, and are probably just parroting garbage Apple forces upon their users.
See, nowadays on Android, an app is released with support for both (32/64 bits), so it makes no difference for anyone. You wont notice any performance issue at all.
Now, the real question here, why is Google doing this move now? They are usually not the first one to jump on certain bandwagons, so makes you wonder whats up here.

It's true that 64-bit apps can access more hardware resources, but it doesn't necessarily translate to better performance. Almost all 64-bit and 32-bit apps have comparable performance. Up to 25% faster is misleading. There may be some exceptional cases that it's faster, but in most cases the performance is pretty much the same. You can check benchmark results. 150 MB of RAM isn't worth removing a feature. Who're you to say that there is no need for 32-bit app support? What are you going to do when you want to run 32-bit apps on a Pixel 7? Google does this because Google is a small company as a phone manufacturer and it wants to cut costs.

Anonymous, 30 Oct 2022Good decision They are doing what microsoft could never do and getting rid of legacy junkUnlike Apple nearly every mid sized and greater business in most of the world relies on that "legacy junk." By not abandoning it's customers it demonstrates stability which also has some disadvantages.
