xr2+ gen 1... it looks like Qualcomm is doing the same as the USB-C nomenclatures like "gen 2x2" or so, it gets very confusing... it was easier to remember back then 845, 855, 865, 888, and now these confusing names... I would assume "XR" means something like X reality or so idk since this is going on the oculus...
BigBrother , 13 Oct 2022Meh. Apple's chip still the king. yeah to call and send texts that it
BigBrother , 13 Oct 2022Meh. Apple's chip still the king. meh no games or nothing for it, so what's the use for most of us lol

I'm not sure if the eyes can take that
OhNom, 13 Oct 2022Yes, especially the 20,000 nits to burn your eyesYou will be surprised to read it, but the environment around you ranges from 16000 to 25000 nits of brightness during day light.
20000 nits in VR won't burn your retina at all.
touchmytip, 12 Oct 2022Give us Snapdragon 7+gen1 instead You should have known that a general CPU can't be used as a memory controller because it has different purposes.
BigBrother , 13 Oct 2022Meh. Apple's chip still the king. Typical iTroll. Comment randomly without knowing basic stuff.

Why not they used at lest mediatek custom chips for vr those chips are more powerful for vr
BigBrother , 13 Oct 2022Meh. Apple's chip still the king. Yeah and Apple does nothing with it. iOS is no different on M1 to the A14,13,12 etc. Completely crippled by software.
Looks good for those 38 users that registered for the service.
Anonymous, 13 Oct 2022Too much discharge. It's more useful for a SteamDeck It's not even useful for a steam deck, this is more useful for VR headsets, something like the snapdragon G3X gen 1 will be useful for the steam deck
There's a trend with all snapdragon + gen 1 chips, they are all made by TSMC and are 30% more efficient.
A decent VR needs at the very least needs 8K resolution per eye and 120Hz display with Path traced graphics and 20000 nit display
It would neeed another 20 years to achieve this feat.
Anonymous, 12 Oct 2022Even this is stronger than tensynos 2Even? Did you know that the device is $1,500?
It's the first 5G chip ever lunched, long time in making indeed but given that it will heat up within 3-5min of continuous usage it can't really be used for real world applications even 888 can't take 8k for that long. If we run a OpenGL in parallel it will blow up, also semiconductor near eyesight idea should get effected be CIBIL score.
77, 12 Oct 2022I want this on the Sony Pro-i, or s23ultra, with 24mb L3cache and 20gb Ram, .Too much discharge. It's more useful for a SteamDeck
Shouldn't the 8 Gen 2 be technically capable of encoding 8k60? The 8gen+ is twice as powerful as the 8k30 capable Snapdragon 865
